Coolant leak
I have a coolant leak, at least i think its coolant (smells like it when i touch the puddle). Anyway, the drip is like right under my headlights. alot more so on the passenger side. Its mostly when the car is turned off after running a while. Also, the car gets up to temp ALOT faster than normal and it occasionally runs slightly hotter than normal at times. Any ideas on where to start diagnosing the problem. I would just drop it at a mechanic cause i dont wanna dal with it but im currently unemployed and back to living in new york so i have to find a non-Ahole mechanic.
Thanks in advance,
Adam

pop the hood and start lookin! what level is the antifreeze at? is the fan coming on when it reaches higher temps?
front of the car leaking antifreeze would probably have something to do with the radiator or hoses. look around for stains/dampness in the general area of the puddle. a light will help and a small mirror is good for checking under hoses and in tight areas.

If this leak is in your camaro, a crack in your coolant overflow tank is pretty consistent with the symptoms.

Very true....the overflow tank is mounted underneath the battery, that's a good place to start looking j3w.

isnt water pump on that side as well? that would cover temp rising fast, as well as possibility of thermostat

The water pump is on the front of the block, not near the headlights.

check the hoses around the clamps. also look on the radiator under the pressure cap. the tend to crack there as well. youll see anti freeze running down the side. right after you drive for awhile. then shut it off.

I'd say either coolant overflow or upper radiator hose

turns out i had a hairline crack in the radiator. i used the Bars stop leak since i cant afford to replace it. I kno many says its horrible to use but it worked and all is well again lol. Well, besides the cars other "quirks".
