Laid off today

Just like alot of other places in this country, my work became too slow to keep a few of us good guys today.

If anyone is in need of an electrician, feel free to PM me as I could use some jobs to help pay the bills.

that really sucks, im sorry to hear it. Despite the poor economy, people, at least in my area, are still doing work on their houses, so im sure you can find some decent sidework in the residential apps. Commercial is slow, but at least we still have enough work to keep us busy for a while yet, so long as the people pay.....
Best of luck to you

I got laid off in November from the semiconductor industry. I had a feeling it was coming, so I built up a small "cushion". I don't expect anything to open up again in my field for a while so I may have to go back to performance automotive again.

that sucks. when we get laid off, we call the hall that morning and get put on the list. theres probably around 120 or so on our list, which is alot for us. having what, 2000 active members for you, makes your list big. at least its easier to find side work as an electrician then a pipefitter. ever thought of traveling?

and what people dont seem to understand, is when a union member gets laid off, hes not out of a job. we get laid off all the time. you just sit and wait until the hall calls you with another job, and collect unemployment. sometimes long, sometimes short. its not like hes never going to be an electrician again....he just has to wait. one winter i was out for 5 months.....and this summer i had a month off. it ebbs and flows.

exactly echo..right now i think our hall has 5000 members or close to it. so its a big list, but thats really only 10% out of work right now, which isnt really that bad. im sure there are guys who just dont want to work and are just sitting on the list.

and your 100% right about still being an electrician..i didnt go through all the schooling and apprenticeship training and work my way up to Journeyman and get my license for nothing lol.

and fleetwiz, id appreciate it
