SES after tune... peace of mind?
So I just had long tubes and ORY pipe installed and of course started to run rich, which was expected. I did go get it tuned this weekend and after the computer ran its course the SES just popped back on. Cause for concern? Everything is running great, car feels much stronger now, I love it. I just HATE that SES glaring into my eyes... I was hoping to get rid of it with the tune. Thoughts?
...other than removing the bulb.lol thanks, matt.

can't give you any info till you scan it and tell us what the code is for. Could be related to your headers. or, it could be just a coincidence.

If you don't have a scanner you can go to advance auto parts and use theres atleast then you can give us the code.

i got a light about a week after i had mine tuned too. i had it scanned at autozone and it ended up being an o2 sensor. it went away on my way home and never came back. no problems since.
quite a few ppl get codes from the o2's because of the heat range change after headers

Not to mention that if you move the cats further down the exhaust it takes them longer to reach operating temperature- if ever.

What is the code? Do you have the AIR still hooked up to the headers? Were the rear O2's tuned out or do you have sims plugged in? If the tune went too lean you might be getting the P0300 multiple misfire. Do you know what the tuner did(do you have a printout)?

So I did a scan and the code that came up is P0133 "O2 sensor CKT slow response (bank 1 sensor 1)" I had a feeling this would be it due to the reloacation of the O2 sensor. I erased the code but im sure it will come back on.. is it a big deal or what? thanks
I still have the AIR and all the emissions still hooked up. and the rear O2's are deleted.

Did you have them put in new O2 sensors when the headers were done? If not, I would get new sensors. Breaking an O2 sensor loose will often lead to it's quick death! If the headers were coated, then maybe the coating burning off has contaminated the O2 sensors. And to add to that, one of my new AC Delco O2 sensors started giving me a heater circuit code within 6 months as well.

Ive been doing some research on LS1tech.com and appearantly this is very common. It almost seems there is no fix for it due to the fact the 02's dont get hot enough in the LT's. Some try Corvette rears because they operate at a lower temp and still have problems. Ive also seen where AC delco's are better the the bosch 02's but no real "real" cure so who knows. I dont really want to fork out the cash for 02's and still have the problem. I do feel better now that I know whats causing it.

Matt, I warned you about this when you picked up the car. Your sensors were old to begin with add the swap and burning the coating off and it is no surprise they are dead. If you don't replace them your fuel economy and performance will suffer. I keep the sensors in stock, if you would like to stop by we can pop them in and have you back out in no time! Just let me know if/when you want to stop by..
Thanks
Josh

Get new sensors, it's not worth the potential problems to ignore them. If your computer loads it up with fuel because of sensor problems you could really mess up the engine. Search around on Ebay, you can find new AC Delco sensors for under $40.
