T56 advice
I'm looking at a T56 this guy is selling, it's rebuilt with new synchros, bearings, bronze pads, and carbon fiber blocker rings. What has me concerned is that he did it himself about a year ago and it has been sitting in his garage. I asked him if it has been sitting with trans fluid in it, if it grabs each gear and spins freely in each gear, I'm still waiting for a response. Is there anything else I should ask about specifically or anything I should check if I go pick this up?
Thanks

Ted-
I'd be wary. Is the guy a trans tech or mechanic? Does he have reciepts for the parts? If the answer is no to both I'd pass. You have no way of knowing what you are buying.

from what i have read, you can do the t56 by yourself, but you need some kind of jig to keep everything properly set up.
ted if i were you i would pm bangingbob or josh and get a couple questions from them that the guy would only be able to answer if he did it right...

Thanks for the advice guys, I'm gonna send out some PM's. The only reason I'm so interested is because it's a good price for everything he is including so I'm trying to weigh out what everything is worth if his rebuild ends up needing to be redone.

If the clutch is new, that might be a gamble I would take.

hydraulics? If so I'd gamble too. all the extra parts could add up to where the T56 is really at core pricing.

Is that for an LS or LT style transmission? IF it is LS then $1000 with all that is a pretty good price. I looked for a long time to get one that people didnt want $1500+ with a used clutch setup that you wouldnt re-use anyway...

it's for LT but the guy seemed to have dropped off the face of the earth. I found another one in NY that I"ll be looking at this week.

1000 seems high unless the clutch is new. You look on camaroz28.com? When I was looking they seemed to be falling out of trees

Yea I've been looking there, a lot of good stuff but they're all over the country, nothing local.
