thermostat question

I ordered a pcm4less tune and in the questionare sheet i put 160 degree engine temp ....Does this mean I have to have a 160 degree thermostat???I thought of this after the fact!! if so ill just put in an order tonight for one.

Just for clarification at the time I thought it would trigger the fans earlier to make the engine cooler...now that I actually think about it I may be wrong haha

It just means the fans will come on earlier. I ran a stocker with a 160 thermo tune and no ill problems.

yeah it takes longer for it to get good heat in the winter IMO. also, it will burn the fan motors out sooner since they will be running more. i programed my fans to come on earlier but have since changed back to stock.

You could end up with the fans running a lot more than they need to if the computer is trying to keep it at a lower temp and your t-stat is too high. I would swap in the 160 if he programmed it for that.

The stock settings are way too high but you should definetly consider a 160 stat since your fans will kick on even before your coolant has a chance to circulate.

Typically they set the tune to bring the fans on around 180-185 degress so go with a 160 thermostat, so if you don't change the thermo the fans will run almost constently which will shorten their life.
