ahhhhhh!
well idk what happened buti went to do my intake swap and something bad just happened to the z. started her up. sounded like marbles from the intake and started shaking real bad and ended stalled out.(all within a matter of under 30 seconds. pulled the intake off of it and i have a bunch of aluminum pieces. motor still turns over but idk the extent of the damage or what even happened to the damn thing.
i also had coolant come out of the intake manifold when i took it out and tilted it.
how bad do you think my motor is guys?
(no white smoke out the tail pipe)
ran fine just made alot of noise
im right now in the process of pulling the heads to find out wtf happened and if the bottom end is still good.
im hoping that nothing got down into the cylinders. being that alot of aluminum was in my intake i think it might just be up top but who knows.
if the block has some gouges in the cylinder walls you can all expect the 243heads. asa cam ls2 intake 92mm tb and all gaskets to be up for sale cheap so i can come up with the cash to get a 6.0 out of a yard for the swap.

i dont know what got down the intake. all the bolts i took off i put off to the side. only bolts that didnt go back on were the 3 for the egr valve because i put a block off plate in place and i have the 3 bolts sitting on the work bench.

Well, let me know if you need any help man or a hoist. I lent one to another member a while ago and haven't picked it up yet. So if you need it I am sure you can get it from him. The swap itself isn't so bad, its the making sure everything connects back up that most people have to pay attention to. Sorry to hear about your motor though, that is a huge kick in the nuts.

when it comes to putting the motor in it im just taking it somewhere. if it were just the heads messed up i was going to throw my 243s and cam in there. but when i found the pieces of piston and piston ring in the intake i knew i was gonna need a new engine.

If I where you I would forget even thinking of going the LS1 route and get a LQ4 or LQ9. It will be cheaper and if you plan on modding its the stronger block.

i didnt get the heads off i just figured i would leave it be. just bring it somewhere and swap motors. if i had to guess at all i would say one of the back cylinders on the driver side. i looked in the ports and didnt see a damn thing wrong in the front ones after i pulled the intake off.

figured i would bring the beat engine back home take it all apart see how bad it is. if there isnt major damage to the block i might just get it resleved and buy a forged rotating assmebaly. and put a little thing together

How did pieces of the piston make it into the intake? thats hardcore. Always sucks when that happens. I thought i broke my car last night. It started shaking and backfiring real bad and then it stalled and wouldnt start. Then when i popped the hood the intake elbow had just come off. Too bad you got no such break Ive blown motors before though it happens and you just deal with it. You have to pay to play!

i asked myself the same question. thats one reason i didnt pull the heads to see what was done but i figured if parts of the piston are in the intake then its gonna be bad. im honestly not mad about the whole thing but i should of double checked everything like i normally do. the one time i didnt look what happens lol.
