Because the engines sit back so far you can't use a lever type removal tool. You neeb one of these:

Ok, they work on SBCs too, it's not LSx specific. Gotcha. I'm still learning abot these new fangled engines.

you also need to fill the cylinders with air to hold the valves up so they dont fall. i did those on my ta about 9 months ago and those back spring were a real b*tch

the piston should hold the valve up fine

Unless of course it is not at the top of the stroke, then, well, yes, it will hold it up in the cylinder just fine.

You can use the TDC method to hold up the valve but why take the risk.

i have the compressor that pamperred posted, cept i got mine at Napa. Along with the air fitting to screw into the spark plug hole.

Valvespring compressor tool

Alternative tool This would work well if you fill the cylinders with air to hold both valves up

I dont think the OEM T handle spring compressor would work that great on dual springs.

i used one i bought off a member on ls1tech. it was about 30 bucks and very simple. works with the motor in or out of the car.

why do a cam swap when you can't afford the tune now your car isn't as drivable as it once was.

i couldnt afford the tune for like a week or so. and cause if i didnt do it now before i left to school, it would have to wait till next summer. Car is already tuned and running great. Now im just saving up for rear, heads, true duals, and new headers.

haha nice, what cam did you put in?
Heads and intake are a must in order for the new cam to breathe and run as it should.

not true....ive seen cam only cars run really really well on stock sized heads. relapses is a 2000 ws6 as well, so im guessing he has the better 241 heads

yup i gots 241s. Put in a comp 224/230 pulls like a freight train.

I used a regular compressor on a LS1 without to much problem. it's all in the hips
