Hooker or SLP exhaust???
Thinking about getting a new exhaust soon...i was originally looking into bassani because a buddy of mine has it on his mustang and it sounds awsome...but i realized that if i get an SLP or Hooker exhaust i can also get an SLP y-pipe for the same price as just the bassani exhaust...does anyone have eathier of these setups or know how it sounds?

First off, don't compare the sound from any other vehicle if it's not the same engine so LT1 won't be close to LS1 and Ford will be completely different as well. Pretty much every exhaust system sounds pretty good compared to stock. Do you want loud? Do you want loud at idle, quiet while cruising? Do you want stainless steel? I had the GMMG when I had stock manifolds and it was not bad. With headers it gets loud. SLP Loudmouth I gets too loud and sounds even worse with headers and no cats. Loudmouth II isn't as bad because it has a muffler vs resonator. I had the Jardine cat-back on my car and it sounded good and was quiet on the highway but it wouldn't fit around the trailer hitch so I switched to a Random Tech cat-back. It sounds good, nice rumble at idle, quiet while cruising but it's a straight through muffler so it opens up loud at WOT. If you're interested, I have an SLP y-pipe for $50 but it's for the 2000-02 cars and you might need an extra piece for the 98-99 since they had a different cat layout.

I second that.
Loudmouth can get overly loud and annoying if you have headers, without them it's maintainable.

SLP LM1 sounds like complete ass. It has no real tone aside from being obnoxious. If you can find a SLP dual/dual snag that...it's quiet but is one of the best flowing exhausts out there...shame they're hard to find.
I have to agree with Al, Magnaflow sounds damn good too.

I got a Loudmouth 2 which is a bit quieter than the regular one. But since I put American Racing longtubes on there its pretty loud... but sounds nasty as all hell. I feel like im the only person in america with that exhaust combo lol.
