TCS question

a few weeks ago i was dicking around w my friends and layed down some rubber, and a cop saw me didnt pull me over or anything but i guess he knew me, so he rang my doorbell and told my parents. so my dad locked my traction control on. any ideas on what he might have done? when i press the button and the light just stays lit. i tried taking the fuse out in hopes of resetting it but no luck.

Um what? Didnt know that was possible? Pull the fuse and leave it out, just make shure it dosent mess up your abs and cause braking problems when you take the fuse out.

Not 100% on LS1s, but can you yank the ASR/TCS relay?

It kills the ASR on LT1 cars I believe. If that works, than you just need to check the owners manual for like a lock sequence that may have been done.

just pop off the bezzel if it is the same one above the radio. Otherwise you migh thave to get a wiring diagram.

did you see him when he did this ? if he went in the car then you know that is the case. Wonder if he shorted it to power or bypassed the switch, but stil has it so it stays lit.

pop off the bezzel and take a picture if it looks abnormal

Don't use a screwdriver on ur dash you'll eff it up. Just carefully pry it off with your fingers it really isn't hard to take off.

Anyone with late model tuning software know if there is anything in the PCM that could be used to lock the traction control on? On other sites I have seen parents use software like HP Tuners to limit top speed and otherwise tune the computer in an attempt to keep their kids from getting into trouble.

Who owns the car and pays the insurance? If it's dad, stop screwing around. If you own the car and pay the insurance, tell the old man to keep his mitts off. lol

I have heard of things like that, but assume that they are too generalized to be able to much, if any, modification to the PCM.

He had to have disabled the ASR button. When you start the car, the ASR is always in the ready state. So if you disable the ASR off button, then you won't be able to turn it off unless you pull a fuse or disconnect the EBCM connector.
