You know what,**** those who were offended, plain and simple. The girls argument is stupid, America really doesnt even ackowledge Cinco De Mayo really, it's just been brought over since the spanish population has enlarged considerably. Thank Corona, and other corporations for exploiting it to be recognized by Americans. Sorry, but I can see her point if they were wearing them in Mexico, but In America, respect the American flag 365 days of the year, even when foreign holidays are taking place.
I don't care how old that girl is that was offended, makes me want to punt her ass in the back of a border patrol truck and drop her off on the otherside.

I think what's even more ridiculous is that the kids were on "brunch break."

THAT IS TOTAL This is America FIRST! Just because every DAMM package has a SPANISH text to it (GO to Mexico and see how many packages have two languages printed on it) does not mean we DON'T have the RIGHT to wear an AMERICAN FLAG ANYTIME I WANT TO. If I was the parent of any of those kids there would be some serious stuff going down!

I wonder if it would of been offensive if I wore my military uniform on cinco de mayo. Its just as meaningful of wearing an American Flag shirt. I could understand if the shirt said something like mexico sucks with and American flag pissing on it or something but it was just an old navy t-shirt with a flag on it that is just a graphic t-shirt. And i do concur with Nasty that California over reacts to almost everything. I have spent enough time there to know.

So would they have been offended if the kids wore a French, or a German flag on their shirts? I have a sneaking suspicion they wouldn't. I feel that the kids who were "offended" and told the V.P. had intentions of getting these kids in trouble before hand, I feel it's more they were offended by the kids, and not what they wore, using Cinco De mayo, being a Spanish holiday, gave them an opportunity, a reason to get these kids in trouble.

i can understand having to remove the bandana(i know most schools dont allow head coverings of anytype, i know mine doesnt) but thats for a different reason. havin to remove the shirts is total BS. i know if my teacher or whoever told me to change my shirt cuz it has an american flag on it id tell them to go F**K themselves.
this is america, support us, or leave.

Yeah, when I go to Monteray for the historics, everyone there is of spanish decent, my hotel is near strawberry farms, it looks like a million man march....to go pick fruit lol, but it's amazing how the town is cleaned up for a week, and you don't see one, and then when the event is done, they roll right back into the area. Then again, Celina's Cal. is northern, I've never been southern, so I can only imagine

that's true, I'm sure that may be what set the kids off.

its all stupid.. nobody should care what flag who wheres whenever they wear it..
there may be more to the story like... maybe the kids nevery acted patriotic until today just to tick off the mexicans or just to start trouble.. or just for attention....
and even if they did it was stupid for anyone to react in anyway IMO of course....
who cares... wear what u wanna wear whenever u wear it..
as long as hes not screaming (GO BACK WHERE U CAME FROM!) while pointing at his shirt i see no reason to get offended

That truly disgusts me. The fact that some "educator" feels its necessary to tell a student to remove his American flag shirt is rediculous. Because it's cinco de mayo?? SO what. It doesnt matter what day it is. What country are we in?? O yea... America.

That right there sums up how that area thinks....
I'm all for equal rights for everyone and all of that stuff...but what a typical knee-jerk reaction, people are so afraid to offend others it's ridiculous.
One thing to keep in mind that I'm sure there was a motive behind the kids wearing that shirt on that day but hey, it's freedom of speech. Nothing was harmful or threatening or derogatory.

I thought Cinco De Mayo was a rather small holiday. Its not the Mexican Independance day, its just the day that a bunch of Mexican army troops were out numberd and beat the french? I thought it was primary a regional holiday for a certain part of Mexico, not the whole country. It would be like if the "Union" states celebrated the end of the Civil War.
Odd part is...the American flag shirts were prob not made in America. Sad stuff.

They don't celebrate the 4th of July there so why should we acknowledge the 5th of May??? As far as I'm concerned, if they want to be "Mexican-Americans" they shouldn't be offended by the flag. They want the freedom to express themselves as long as everyone else has to go along with it.

Cinco De Mayo is basically an American holiday, although the Corona connection is spot on. They don't celebrate it in Mexico.
A guy local to this posted up on another site. He says it boils down to a handful of kids were doing the American flag thing explicitly to start trouble and the principal stopped it. The local area is like 80% Hispanic. IMO he was totally wrong, but there is somewhat of a back story.
