Unhappy So I broke my rear end....

Well not really, but close..

Lost all five studs at once, it gave no warning, just let go at around 60mph...

Wheel, rotor, caliper are all shot... and a $200 tow home... what a fucking night. And yes, I just got home. bah.

I really have no idea, I know they were tightened no less than a week ago when Adam came over to help me bleed the brakes. I had em off and then put em back on, nothing looked out of the ordinary or felt weird in the week up to today, drove up to new brunswick, commuted to work etc etc.

And then coming home, just cruising at a slow speed, no street racing or hard launches and bam, I am grinding all over the road. I know that the culprit for this is loose lugs, but I know I tightened them all. Either way, I am in a not so good place.

Yeah, losing wheel studs is scary as hell - I lost two on a front wheel and almost lost the wheel last year, I couldn't even imagine how crazy yours must have felt! Glad you got home in one piece man!

Here's mine -

This was pretty late/early in the morning man, didn't wanna make you drive all the way back up to where I was, but thanks man.

I got 5 studs/lugs from adavance, but I am thinking I will return them, and do it with ARP extended studs. Gotta do rotor/pads as well, the rotor really dug into the pads when it was loose and turning on the ground.

Snowball effect, go go.

Nah, I was just saying I had been up in new bruns the other night, and nothing had happened. I was down at the southern end of rt 18 on 138... me and the cold.

Just a better pic of the hub, the holes are all elongated.. so I'm a fail me thinks.

Yea, thats what Al and I were talking about, he is afraid he is next, and since every time it got worse...you lost a lug, Kirk lost a few studs, I lost a wheel... he is due to lose the whole rear end.

Hopefully it will make it to Nats. I hope at least. Parts are too damn expensive. This is my rear end getting back at me for giving so much attention to the damn engine.

Yea I am gonna try and order the studs sometime this week, prob change the axle seal and bearing as well. Dunno if that kind of shock could effect the center section, but I guess I can pull the cover and check that too.

Hey, at least the rotor is straight! Just kinda.. ya know.. crooked.

Wow that sucks matt. Atleast it doesn't look like there was any damage to the body of the car.

I got it off the flat bed and up my driveway on one of your harbor freight specials pal. Had to use the wood to raise the car up so I could move the dolly around and now its gonna sit like that.

Glad you are OK and that the rim was the only casualty.

Just saw in another thread that you had OEM ZR1's. Crazy, seeing as how I thought these rims were originally a unilug style based on this pic. Casting FTL?

Man, that wheel looks like it must have been loose at some point in time and abused to elongate the holes.

Yeah, Im next. I expect the 10 bolt to just fall out fo the back of the car. Maybe it will shoot the axles out first, who knows.
