Well this turned out to be an interesting day

Ever since I replaced the brake lines on the truck I've been fighting with getting it bled out properly and Sunday it got much worse. I tried bleeding again after work yesterday and it got even worse so I'm thinking it's the master cylinder since I drained it when I replaced the lines. So I decide there's no way I'm going to drive to work this morning so I'll work from home and bike down to NAPA to get a new master cylinder. I called first thing this morning and they could get it to the store by 2pm, great that should work perfectly. Until I find out around 10am that there is a serious problem with a data file and naturally nobody else knows how to put it together and balance it. So I'm waiting for the correct data to build the new file and they keep telling me it's taking longer than they thought. I finally head down (in between storms) to NAPA at 2:30 so I can at least pick up the new master cylinder. I finally get the data and start working on the file. Problems and more problems and delays and rerunning the file until we finally get the correct information around 8:45 pm to send out the file. So much for fixing the truck today. A nice 12 hour 45 minute day while working from home in shorts and a t-shirt. I get to work from home tomorrow until I get the brakes working. The lucky thing was that I never lost power or the internet connection to work while working. I think there is going to be more correction work tomorrow as well, things never get fixed completely on the first try.

Yup, bench bled the old master but it appears that even 1 day without fluid is enough to dry up or damage seals. I wish I had thought to just put in the bench bleed fittings instead of draining the whole system when I replaced the lines, but once I had the first line cracked open at the ABS unit it was a distant thought. I'm working from home again this morning for an hour or 2 before I swap out the master.
