weight distribution hitches for towing?

Anyone use a WDH on their towing setup?
Recommended?

I have towed landscaping, utility, and car trailers several times both with my old 99 Yukon Denali and my 96 dodge ram 2500HD.

The Denali had a rough time with the landscape trailer loaded with car parts, and I expected it being that it was only a half-ton chassis. Now the ram on the other hand, I barely ever noticed the load behind it.(2wd cummins diesel) I also once used a '02 Ram 1500(4.7L) to tow a U-haul full car trailer, and that wasn't very fun.

But years back I picked up a camaro and my friend drove his F250 and we borrowed a 20' enclosed trailer. The trailer had a WDH setup. My friend at the time had never used one either, so it was new to him too. When we got back home, He said it made a huge difference with how the truck/trailer acted compared to previous times he had towed. That trip was through NYC basically, on the Cross Bronx Expressway and over the Throgs Neck bridge to LI. He was nervous about driving in those tight conditions but it wasn't even a concern with the WDH.

Now, my question is, should I get one for my current towing setup? It would be for my Ram only, and attaching to an open car trailer(dual axle, wood plank floor). If i was only planning to tow light race cars, I probably wouldnt, but being that my 4000lb or so CTS-V will be on it a bit. I wouldnt mind the extra stability. Plus a little added security cant hurt right?

I just want to make sure any "overkill" wont actually hurt more than help.

Edit... just some other factors... I dont currently know the TW of the trailer, and the trucks suspension will be lowered, most likely with heavy duty airbag setup, so stock height can be achieved for towing.

Do it, makes a world of difference in stability and ride. I used one on my 96 Tahoe, just waiting for some new brackets for my trailer so I can swap it to my Suburban.
