Whats the f/body demographic here?

Am i wrong, or does the majority of 'active' folks here have 4th gen camaro/birds? Just something i honed in on. I've seen a few 1st gens, not too many 2nd, a few 3rds, majority of 4ths and 1 or 2 5ths.

The majority of people on here are 4th gen guys.

I'd guess

1.) 4th gen
2.) 3rd gen
3.) 1st gen and 5th gen tie
4.) 2nd gen

I personally have had 1 2nd gen, about 20 3rd gens, and 9 4th gens.

Only got a 97 Firebird left which is slowly getting parted out.

4th gens are just cheap platforms now like 3rd gens used to be.

I got two 4th gens, it's a Camaro thing.

I want to say age relates directly to ownership of a certain generation IMO. For the most part.. the young guys here either have a 4th/3rd gen and you know us young people love the internet. We use technology more frequent and easier then say most of the older crowd. First and second gens are kind of scarce generally because the owner may be "older", reminds me of the crowds at car shows that all stick together and are oblivious to everyone else there (just like the internet!). Now this is not the case for everyone.. but just my insight on things. I'd personally be on a dedicated forum for those models if I were to suck any info out.

Before the Autoguide/IB buyout Camaros.net was HUGE. I joined NastyZ back in 2000 and it was also incredibly busy. Like "can't keep a classified ad on the first page after a few hours" busy. The older crowd has no issues typing.

Ditto this. That previous comment was a little weird. I mean, I can certainly agree that the current 3rd/4th Gen platforms are designated to the 17-25 crowd, as a product of it's current depreciated value. But, when these cars were new and close-to-new, the people building the libraries of information, write-ups, performance products, appearance mods, free mods, track times, etc where all a result of the "older crowd." Heck, I don't know too many 18-year olds that started a forum, or could afford a new car. With most cars, it's the older guys that get it started, then move on when they're bored/the depreciation has brought in a "different" crowd. Enter Current-Owners.

Tally another mark in the 4th Gen category.

The 1st and 2nd gens I would want are too nice for me at the moment maybe when I'm older.

The trend seems to lean toward a person owning the f-body that they grew up with. Probably in the 6-12 year old range. I loved Knight Rider when I was like 4 or 5, now I own a 3rd gen.

To me, 4th gens are still too new. When I see them, it triggers the feeling I got when they first came out. I can still remember thinking they looked weird, mostly because they didn't look like a third gen. I would love to own a 4th gen formula or trans am, but my heart sticks with third gens.

Plus 4th gens are a b*tch to work on. And don't get me started on the non-fbody 5th gens...

As an 'older' guy with a 1st gen, I can say the 1st gen was what I grew up seeing and it brings back memories! But been doing the 'internet' thing for quite some time (work in IT!). As to sticking together at cruise nights, its just easier to strike up a conversation if you have something in common. But still appreciate every Gen of Camaros, and welcome hanging out with the 'younger' crowd

I agree you get more useful info on a dedicated site (that is why I am on many!), but this being a local NJ forum/club makes this one special!

Hope to meet more of you this year at the meets! I did not make many last year.

Price plays a large part too....I'd love a nice first gen but I can't afford it. A 3rd or 4th gen is much more affordable.
