great deal on oil - deal section?
So right now advance auto has Pennzoil Platinum and a K&N filter for $19.99 after mail in rebate, usually $37 for that oil and $15 for the K&N. It gets good analysis results from what I've seen for those that browse BITOG.
On another note, just an idea, I really like the deal sections on other forums. If one were added on here it would save me 1 browser click each day. Maybe it would increase activity during the winter months when less people are posting in tech and such.

Personally, it's a good deal, but buy an AC Delco filter as well, and slap that on, save the K&N for when you decide to push the car (i.e. track time or hot weather) this time of year, it's not needed to put a filter on made of gold and diamonds, when an O.E. filter will do just the same job.
Personally, as far as oil goes, I prefer Castrol to Mobil 1, Pennzoil Syn, Valvoline Syn, etc. Walmart usually has a great deal on the 5 qt. container, $25 ( compared to individual quarts about 6-8 ea.), but I either use AC Delco, or NAPA Gold filters, and nothing else.

I used to run exclusively German Castrol 0w30. It doesn't go on sale as often anymore so after seeing results coming back for the Pennzoil Platinum and Ultra with good results in ls motors I started using them as well. I don't run Mobil 1 either, but whichever synthetic Castrol or Pennzoil is on sale is what I go with, even though my car consumes a bit more Pennz. I usually go to Walmart also but their filter selection is lacking which means an extra trip.
I think the limit on this sale is 2 per household so I may grab another. My car gets a good workout all year round so I'll probably just use the filter for convenience of the nut with my header clearance and since it will be warming up towards the end of this interval anyway. Are the Napa filters still made by wix? That's usually my go to cheap filter. I thought the delco filters were usually on the cheaper build quality side so I never really used them. With how often things switch manufacturers and half of the filters being made by the same places anyway I just shoot for a K&N or Wix or settle for anything other than Fram.

Hahah before this thread gets even more sidetracked and a debate erupts let me post my disclaimer saying that yes I'm aware of plenty of fine examples of cars with 200k+ motors always on Mobil 1 and 400k+ on $1.99 oil and $1.99 filters.
I just run what I run because they're affordable full synthetics that i can run a little longer than conventional and they show good wear characteristics in uoa's. From a statistical standpoint I don't know that anyone on here personally has enough of a control running multiple engines so consistently and methodically that they can attribute it any more to oil than any other factor, so I base my choice on these tests vs a single person who happens to make it to 500k.
Back on topic:
1) This is a good deal, so go buy some oil
2) deal section?

Wix is the company who builds NAPA's filters, though lately, I've noticed the AC Delco's have plastic cages in them instead of the steel cages.
