How much does an LS1 weigh?

Like the title says, how much does one of those suckers weigh with a T-56 bolted up to it? My friend wants to know so any info is greatly appreciated. Thanks in advance!

i think ur just talking about the drivetrain right?

im pretty sure the engine wieghs somewhere in the 450-550 lb range.. but im not 100% sure, and id say the tranny wieghs somewhere within the 125-175 range

The complete motor with wiring and accessories weighs about 550. Not sure how much the T56 weighs, but 1RawTA's guess is prolly close.....I know it weighs less than a 700R4

i'd say a 700r4 with converter on it full of fluid is reasonable close weight to a T56 full of fluid with bellhousing on it, not counting the clutch kit or flywheel. The 6 speed is one heavy bastard, it's definitely heavier than just a 700r4 tranny. trust me i know, i've picked both up many times.

I think that is actually the only accessory he's planning on running off of the belt...

[weight nazi ]with an auto trans and all the wiring and accesaries and stuff a full up LS1 is supposed to weigh about 150lbs less than an iron headed gen 1 small block(basically comparied to a complete f-bdoy L98)
another nice thing about the LS1 is that the motor moutn positioning and lack of a dist allow it to sit 3/4 inch lower and 2inches farther back in the car. [/weight nazi]

later
