Never again

Never again will I work an ****in Thanksgiving. I mean, I didn't give 2 ****s about bein with my fam, I've done that every year for the past 21, I think they can live without me one year. But god damn. Workin in a retsuarant on Turkey day is outrageous...and all the running around I did did not justify the amount of money I made. Granted I only really worked for 4 hours since I passed out at around 6 and stopped pickin tables up, so I made $20 an hour plus my measly wage the owners pay. But still. Grr. Now I still have a ****in headache from lack of sugar (I'm borderline hypoglucemic - low blood sugar for those who don't know - and I hadn't eaten since 1:30 when I got there to start work), I feel like Im gonna vomit, I'm tired, frustrated. GRRRRR.

Ok, done ranting. Mark my words, I will never work on Thanksgiving again!

Foff, from the moment I clocked in until the moment I passed out I hadn't even stopped for a drink of water let alone to eat something with sugar. I immediately had 3 5 - 6 person reservations come in, and then a few more throughout the night...if I had amoment to eat something, even if it was a sugar packet, I would have cause I know I can't get 4 hours without eating when I'm highly active. Such is life.

They all have alterior motives for wanting to give me a massage...I just want a damn massage.

Grr, maybe I should show up to the basement for 15 minutes, get a massage (if I can get one anymore) and leave...since I really have no desire to be in the basement this weekend...(long story)

What did you walk out with? I walked out with $83 after tipping $14 to the bus boy and the bar (10% goes to bus, 5% to bar). For only really workin for 4 hours before I passed out, it wasn't too bad. Coulda walked out with more if I hadn't given up 2 tables because I passed out.

I remember working Thanksgiving night at the Mercer County Skating rink years ago. I thought the place would be empty. I had a nice big dinner and then went to the rink. The place was mobbed! I could barely move from being so stuffed. It was a madhouse with kids acting like idiots(oh wait, that's what kids are). That was the one and only time I worked Thanksgiving.

Ewe, that sucks ass. We had 8 waitresses/1 waiter and 2 bus boys...but 1 was in the banquet room exclusively and the other in the dining room exclusively, so we only had to pay out to 1 which was nice. Usually we have to split between them when there are 2.

But we kept running out of ****...soda glasses, coffee cups, spoons, veggie dishes...you name it, we ran out at least once...it was ****ed up. Glad I won't be workin there much longer.

so. let me get this striaght, you would've worked longer had you not passed out because you couldn't spare a few moments to get a coke? you need to set your priorities while working. it's not like they paid you extra to pass out, did they? you are more important (and your health) than some measly resturant job.

I don't envy you. I would never want to work in food service ever again. I learned my lesson when I worked for Cala's.

A coke isn't enough. I'd need real substantial food to get my blood sugar back up, which would have required stopping to get said food, and eating it, when I have 4 tables of 6 people each all waiting for their food, and the cooks/owner yellin at me to pick the food up and get it out of the way so someone else can come pick up.

Yes, I know I have this problem where if I don't eat every 4 hours while I"m highly active I can pass out. And I made sure to eat something right before I started working. But it didn't hit me that I had gone too long without eating until I passed out. Usually I'm constantly got something in my hands or on a plate makin sure I don't pass out. There literally was no time between 1:30 and 6ish when I passed out.
