Fiasco at Dayton chrylser, results with car

Just to update everyone who was very helpful on the site a little while ago when I posted about buyin a new car for my mom, she ended up buyin a 04 Sebring on saturday. It's a nice car for her, i like it and ended up driving it all day when i got it fixed for her (the fuse that controls all electrical devices in the car was disconnected becuase it was a showroom model)...here's a rundown of the fiasco it was to get the car.

--The price was 24.5 on the tag and my mom talked to the internet salesman who quoted her at 17.4...so we went in and the guy said "oh yea its for that price" but failed to mention all the extra taxes etc. that put it up to 19.6, then we had a coupon becuase we bought so many cars from this dealer and they wouldnt take it becuase the fine print (size 8 font) says that its only with a trade-in. SO then they wouldnt take the discount i get for workin at starbucks (this thing called perks, that i checked on the website that said i DO get a discount there). So then we argued with the floor manager for about 30 minutes about price and got him down to 18.6 and I told him if we couldnt get it down to 18, we wouldnt be able to buy the car. So he said there was no way to go any lower and my mother and I got up, put our jackets on and walked out. I didn't even start the car before the guy chased us out of the dealership and accepted 18 flat.

--So then we get to the financing department and tell the guy we're puttin 2k down and what not and he pulls out that it will cost 315/month when the salesman (worst salesman ever) told us that it would be no more than 275 a month. This was becuase the idiot salesman just agreed with everythign we said and when we asked "its 3.9% financing, correct?" He said "yes it is". We were about to rip up the contract, and I wish we had out of spite for the dealer, and found that if we put 4k down, the payments will be at 276/month. So we did that.

--Then we left the car to be prepped and cleaned and the salesman said come back at 5 and the car will be ready to go...well my parents go to pick it up and they never fixed any of the interior electrical devices. So they tell her to come back and they'd fix it even though it should have been done then

--Brought it back today and it took 5 minutes to replace the fuse they disconnected, and then we found that the back seats have weird discoloration/impurities, so we had to order a new back seat cover and will have to drop it off for a whole day next week to get replaced

So if you got bored of readin this and skipped to this part, the only thing you need to know is we ended up gettin a good deal but if at all possible, don't shop at Dayton Chevy/Chrylser/Jeep on rt. 130 and if you do, DO NOT get Alex as your salesman.

$257.20, actually. it looks to me like some slight of hand, as in they tried to glom the extra that was put down. at $2000 down, 3.9% they would've been at $293.94. assuming $2k down and 6.9%, they'd have been at $316.06 which is close to the 315 quoted. so they didn't glom the whole $2k extra down, but they did clip some of it, more like $1k. $3k down, 3.9% is $275.57 - so it looks like they made $1000 disappear. check the contract very carefully and i am sure you'll find a line item for an air fee of $1000, or maybe a couple of lines that total $1000.

oh, and in case you don't understand "air fee", it's when they charge you for something and all you get is "air" - nothing concrete that you can actually see or touch.

see why i didn't like working for the dealerships? it's all about stealing and lying. no wonder that everyone dreads buying a new car.

what trim level was the car? i just used a base model 4 cylinder, 4 door for the lookup. you might be able to get a better deal than that, as the invoice for the base model was 17K and change, if you cancel on them and go someplace else.

The loan is for 48 months at 276/month we put 4k down...does that not add up? I didnt like the salesman nor the floor manager and would have no problem driving the car thru the showroom windows...
