I do believe the trans mount is in a different place so the crossmember would need to be modified since I dont think any 2nd gen had a stock crossmember that would fit the 700r4. The driveshaft is a different length, I believe the th-350 one would need to be shortened. Also you would need a new shifter since the th350 is a 3 speed and the 700r4 has overdrive, plus then if you want to retain the 4th gear lockup function, you'd need a special wiring setup with a switch. Its almost more work and money than its worth to do the swap. I would recommend just buying another TH-350 and keep that.

I'm pretty sure you need a new crossmember and driveshaft. The TH200R4 is the same length as the TH350 so you might consider that instead. The Buick GN's run the T200 so no problem with getting one built. Check www.bowtieoverdrives.com for more info on the 700R4.

swapping in an overdrive isn't a very big deal. you can reuse your stock speedo cable, you will need to make sure the speedo gears in the 700r4 are correct since i don't think they interchange, the 700 has a slightly longer mounting length(i think it is only like 1inch different) so you can easily modify the stock cross member to work, and the drive shaft has so be shortened by a few inches.

That's a good idea. I also have a TH350 trans if you're interested but it's been sitting for at least 10 years so I would think it needs new seals at the least.
