1979 Camaro 454/4-Speed - $5500!

Hey all,
A very good friend of mine put together a '79 Camaro for his son a few years back, and now they need to sell it. They bought it knowing it was a Z/28 clone; it has steel Z/28 rims, fender vents, chin spoiler, rear quarter skirts and trunk spoiler, but the dash is not correct. The hood is a 1980 functional cowl hood. It's got some rust issues (lower right front fender, trunklid, and hood) but overall the car presents well and the bright blue paint looks great from 10 feet away - see the attached pic. The rear quarters are in good shape, and the floors look decent too. It's got a black interior; new carpet, headliner, and custom door panels. The seats are decent, but should be recovered. They were tan and dyed black to match the interior, and the fronts are kind of ratty now.

The drivetrain is where it gets interesting. It's got a mild 454 with a Comp 280 cam and an Edelbrock 800 carb. It still has a stock cast-iron intake, and cast-iron exhaust manifolds. The rest of the exhaust is gutted cats and that's it; just straight pipes out the back. The trans is a Muncie 4-speed, with (we think) 3.73s in the posi rear. I dunno what clutch is in there. The car also has welded in SFCs. The car runs and drives great with plenty of power, and with some body/interior work would be a really nice car.

He's asking $5500, but I'm sure he's flexible for a serious buyer that'll give the car a good home and some TLC. The car is located in Bergen County. I have a bunch of 1200x1600 shots of this car if anyone is interested too. Please post or PM, and I'll put you in touch with him!

Bump, price drop to $5500 or Best Offer. Someone needs to rescue this car.

that looks so much like the car me & my dad put together. only difference was it had a small block in it. but the exterior and the color paint - uncanny.

Back to the top again. Hey Jim, how long ago did you and your dad put the Camaro together? This one has been up here for at least 10 years. I wonder if it could be the same car? This car used to have a wicked 350 in it, but it developed a rod knock so they swapped the big-block in.
