Flywheel Resurfacing
Hey guys. I am getting ready to bolt up the trans to my new motor, but before I can do that I need to have the flywheel resurfaced. I posted some pics. You can see that besides being absolutely filthy, it has some surface rust from sitting and some heat marks on it. I was unable to find any cracks in it though, and compared to pictures of other flywheels I've seen, it looks to me like it should be reusable. Anyone think otherwise?
Also I am looking for a machine shop around Brick to resurface it. I would like to take it to one that has Saturday hours as I don't get home from work until very late during the week, but I realize that might not be an option. Can anybody make a suggestion?
Edit: I have to refresh the pics to see them when I click on the thumbnails. Anyone else have that problem?

my suggestion would be to look into getting a new one. for a stock style flywheel it doesn't cost much more than having an old one resurfaced.
if you have a few extra pennies to spend you can even add some performance to your car by looking into a lightweight aftermarket flywheel. they do cost a bit more, but at half the weight of the stocker, your car will thank you.

I would rather get a new one than resurface that one.

Get a new, it isn't worth having a stocker re-surfaced

if i remember correctly it was around 25-35 bucks to get a flywheel cut..where can i find a new one for that price?..Some NAPA parts store have machine services..just make some calls...new and lightweight ones are great but sometimes its just not in the budget...

What kind of car is this for? I got an AC Delco stock replacement for my 77 around $60 or so from rockauto.com. Current discount code of turbodiesel should work for 5% off.

Go new and lightweight... lighter's arent much more than stockers , i think Centerforce sells both. Lighteweight isnt much more than $200(i may be wrong)
