worst car i ever stripped
well i stripped a 90 ta last month with alotta good parts but not good out come lol. car sat for 4 years so i knew not to expect much.1st went to take out switch for headlights barely pulling on it and the metal ends came out of socket ripping open my thumb to the bone! 2nd went to jack car up,jack went through the floor and wouldnt come down.3rd went to take out taillights and got stung only once considering there was bout 40-60 hornets in the nest.4th put cowl hood in my basement only to find yet another hidden hornets nest.5th and final i took apart the rear to find out theres tons of metal shaveings in it. lmao anyone else have an experience like this stripping cars???? ive been doing this since 1994 this was my worst ever.. sorry had to vent lol

I dont think in my mind nothing will compare to Paul scraping an original 1 of 4 1LE Camaro's...I dont care how bad of shape that car was in, im sure there was at least a couple goodies like the brake calipers and such

i use to work at a junk yard tearing apart cars and there were bees nest every where by mid summer, i remember pulling the door panel off and the entire door was a nest. and buying a vw bus that sat in a field for 11 years that had over 30 nest in it, 3 months into the resto and we were still finding them. I HATE BEES! i got stung in the eye once when i was 15 and never quite got over it.

Funny.. Since when did thirdgens have an upper a-arm?
Anyways.. The rotors are close. IIRC Caprices uses a bigger bearing where as the thridgens use a smaller one. So when you put a 1LE rotor on a thridgen you have to get the bearings for that app..
Oh and caprice's are 5x5 iirc.

nope you use the caprice bearing....the inside diameter is the same on the caprice and F-body...you CAN NOT tell me it doesn't work...cause i did it.....every thing bolts up and it clears 15in wheels

I guess if you are parting it out you really don't give a crap about damaging the floor.

I guess, but i would almost EXPECT the jack to go through the floor of a car thats been sitting a long time.
and i've never heard of a car thats supposed to be jacked up on the floor? maybe i'm missing something?

it wasnt a ILE
caprice spindles are different, /convo. i said it back in an old thread and proved it there
jacking points on a 3rd gen are the pinch weld, very hard for it to go into the floor from there
edit as for stripping cars, ive had everything from mice, rats, cats, ants, wasps, rotted t ROOFS, rotted shock towers, etc

a floor jack wont fit unde rmy k member.
a floor jack wont fit under my front subframe mounts.
i use a stock jack to jack up the car a lil, then roll a floor jack under it and go from there.

Unless you are dropping the rear, or changing the springs, or stuffing in a tire that's too tall to fit under the wheel lip.

My friend Dave and I parted out an 89 Firebird a couple of years ago. This car was a nightmare from day 1 but we were able to get some good parts out of it. First off I have never seen rust on a car like this before, both the driver and passenger floorpans were missing and the carpet was pretty much the only thing keeping your feet inside the car.
OK, so we started parting it out and I am pulling interior panels. So I pull away the passenger side lower panel where the rear seat belt comes out and there is a football size ball of grey fluff. I go to pull it out and two mice run out of it. Scared the crap out of me!
Better than being stung by wasps but still sucked!
