G6 GXP

275hp with them there fancy DOHC VVT V6 engine and 6spd manual.

PONTIAC G6 GXP CONCEPT EXPLORES PERFORMANCE BOUNDARIES
LAS VEGAS – Pontiac unveiled a G6 GXP show vehicle, hinting at a possible high-performance direction for the new sports sedan. The G6 GXP concept is powered by a 3.6-liter HO V-6 producing 275 horsepower and backed by a close-ratio six-speed manual transmission.

As with the production models of the Bonneville GXP and Grand Prix GXP, the new G6 GXP show vehicle carries more than just a higher dose of horsepower. It features an integrated system of chassis and suspension refinements designed to complement the high-performance drivetrain, as well as delivering distinguishing exterior and interior appointments. The elements create a sophisticated, exciting package that underscores Pontiac ’s commitment to a lineup of balanced performance vehicles.

Although just a concept, the G6 GXP will be used to gauge opinions about the viability of a high-performance version of the new G6. Similar clinic testing with the Bonneville GXP and Grand Prix GXP concepts resulted in green lights for production. The Bonneville GXP now accounts for about 30 percent of all Bonneville sales and the Grand Prix GXP is scheduled to start production in 2005.

The G6 GXP concept’s elements include:

3.6-liter HO V-6 with 275 horsepower
F40 six-speed manual transmission
GM Performance Parts “cat-back exhaust with bright tips
GXP-specific front and rear fascias, rocker moldings
GXP-signature chromed grille trim
Bilstein shocks
Chromed production wheels and performance tires
The G6 GXP show vehicle is instantly identified by its aggressive appearance, with new front and rear fascias that give the vehicle a “tightly wrapped look. The vehicle’s performance appearance is accented by a lowered ride height, which settles the G6 GXP body over a set of chromed 18-inch wheels and performance tires.

the front of that G6 has a LOT of similarities to that GM Engineering GTO you posted, Al. I noticed it right away. I think they were going for a mini version of that Goat with this car.

Yes, the G6 has a lot from the GTO Ram Air 6 Woodward concept. The air dam, the lower front facia, as well as the color all look very GTO'ish.
I do wish that GM does this with in a year. It would really bring some serious muscle to Pontiac.
And this woudl give it as much hp as the Bonnie's Northstar 4.6 V8...

Other than the front clip, it looks like Mazda beat Pontiac to it with the Mazda6. I think the Pontiac has a little more rake to the window lines but other than that.... they're too similar. It's rather amazing how Mazda and GM design alike (cough C5 Rx7 cough).

Don't hold your breath, although I'd say that's got style. I'd buy one if it had over 300hp, a 5 or 6 speed manual and RWD

I guess you havent seen this car up close. This car looks NOTHING like the Mazda 6. Zero. Headlights, doors, wheel base, hell...the design is totaly different.

and RX7 and C6 design? Ahh....thats a big NO. The Corvettes design is based off the F22. In know way does the RX7 offer the same hard-on effect the C6 does.

the Vette and RX7 look nothing alike. the RX7 is smaller, sleeker, while the Vette gives the impression of serious power in a smooth wrapper.

I must say, I see a lot more 'Vettes than I do RX7's, so their hard-on factor is about the same.
