raced 1st 05 GT

last Friday I was driving home from hanging out with a few friends and I pull up to a light and an 05 pulls up next to me. He rev's and rolls down his window and asks if I wanna run 22(he was about 18 and had 1guy & 1 girl in the car), I tell him I'm game so we go down to Rt22 East and are gonna run the stretch between the Scotchwood Diner and Bowcraft. It's about 1:30am so we are able to come to a complete stop and go on the 3rd honk. I did a clutch killing 5500 launch and he must have bogged, spun, or maybe it's just 'cause it was a stang, but I immediately put 1-1&1/2 car lead on him by the time I was at 30ish. I just kept the lead going from there and it was apparent he wasn't gonna catch me so I shut down@ 75-80. He paced behind me for a little, and pulled up next to me. I jumped the car to see if he wanted to go from a roll, figuring it was his best chance, and he didn't so I turned off. Wasn't to impressed...BUT i don't like the 05's, and this black one at night looked badass.

BTW my mods are:
intake, exhaust, re-flash
all hurt by a BOV that I gotta replace w/ a RCV

Plenty.....just look for stuff from roush, steeda, etc. They prolly were given specs and/or test cars long ago.

The market for the 05's are picking up. Mags are pulling low 12's out of teh car already, but what seems to be a BIG bump in the road, and not only with the Mustang, is a torque limiter that cuts down on engine power if you push it too hard. Its what is holding teh C6 and GTO back from some serious numbers. Its to make sure that you dont blow through transmissoins, therefor less warranty work for GM.
I belive it was PHR that geared, headrs and exhaust with reflash of computer and slicks got mid 12's.
Stock 05 autos and sticks seem to pull high 13's to low 14's.

might want to be careful on how many of those you do... a friend of mine blew through his WRX transmission and clutch, completely destroying 1st gear after a few too many launches like that. i guess, just dont be stupid like he was and attempt it on a sticky track like atco

i hear that, I've only done like 4, even then, EVO's come with a paper clutch so the clutch-mod is in the works. The tranny's seem to hold up pretty good though, from what I've read.

carteks run low 11's with a mild heads/cam and some tuning with a c6
