WOOOO HOOOOO
I changed my oil on friday and the filter/old oil showed no signs of metal...last night the roads were dry and due to a semi-bad experience i wasnt going to be getting tired any time soon...so i decided to take my car out on a back road and get into it a tad now that shes broken in (a tad more than 700 on the engine now) .
The thing was shifting at about 5000 rpms which is perfect for a 350 TPI...even though i thought it would rev til about 5500...either i wasnt getting into it enough or its just that bum TV cable of mine...either way i was pleased with it shifting there. Anyway...i brought it up to about 1200 or so...and launched...she kinda bogged til about 2500 (all i was thinkin was wtf) and then it chirped the tires and took off like a bat out of hell. I'm so used to my 2.73s taking forever to get through the power band...and now with the 3.42s its awesome.
I was on it through first and 2nd...and til about 4000 in 3rd when i decided to let off...my speedo is obviously retarded...new cable and all, but it stuck at about 75 on the thing...then a few seconds later it jumped to 100...the car was still pulling but the speedo wasnt moving past 100. I suppose i'd need a run down the strip to tell how it was exactly...but it was fun as hell, sounded awesome, and pulled hard.
Also, incase someone doesnt condone me testing the car like this, It was early in the morning on a very long, straight dead road. Also this little "test" lasted for no more than 15 seconds.
