Anyone have any experience working on a Suzuki RM 250?

My buddy has an '02 RM 250 and has been having a bit of problems with it. We replaced the coil + Wire, plug, new air filter, cleaned carb + jets, new correctly mixed fuel. The thing ran great, he parked it and now it runs like crap. the thing hadnt been touched since the last time he rode it.

Problem:

Lower RPMs the thing runs fine, as long as you roll into the throttle, if you stab it, it almost sounds like its got a bad miss. (Like its hitting a rev limiter) It has no power like it used to. please if you have any input please let me know asap

my rm 125 had a lot of probs when we first rebuilt it, it was bored and plenty of other things done....i allways had to roll into the throttle to get it into its powerband, it sounds like you have the exhaust port valve screwed up...but dont just go turning it, you can chop off the valves with the piston, grab a manual and see how it says to adjust it, it should be a little round plug looking thing near the exhaust on the side of the case. hope that helps, and dont mess with the jets anymore. go back to stock jets if you have them and go up, progressively go up jet sizes until it feels better. once you have that, turn in your idle/air screw all the way and then back it off 2 turns, then do little adjustments from there. take off the carb too and hose the **** out of it with carb cleaner, a pubic hair can clog a jet....hope this helps. holy ****...i should be a suzuki mechanic...u can tell i have owned a lot of them
