worst judged show ever NJ f bodies
the judging was the worst part of the show why did we have spectator judging spectator judging means whomever brings the most friends win. next year we need to hire judging and have a point scale like englishtown and make it fair.
2nd off they said that they were having trophies for 1st 2nd and 3rd and we got plaques? whats up with that??? i was very disapointed

the show was spectator judged because we didn't feel the need to PAY for "professional" judges to show up. yes, you heard me, they want cash money to hang out and judge a car show.
the plaques came down to the same money issue. we had a few companies throw in products, but no one put up any cash for trophies/cups.
to me it looked like the car show judging was pretty fair overall. a car taht i woudl bet only a few of the members of this board have ever seen before won best of show, hardcorez28's super clean iroc took second, and pamperedz(only a few of you have ever met in person before today) took third.
the spectator judging was also posted several months ago. if you thought it was a bad system it woudl have been better to offer other options when the classes/rules were all still up for debate.
going forward it would be nice to have some professional judging, but any event i am invoved with will always have some level of spectator participation. because i try to put together car shows for spectators, not judges.

I think the car looks pretty good. 19's are pretty perfect, 20's would be overdoing it and 18's would be less than perfect. Thats just me, i love hunter green f-bodys. Looks better in person tho

yea... i hear ya there kane, but here's the thing- when I looked at his car, the FIRST thing I noticed about the car was the rims. In my opinion, and granted I'm not one to talk about modding cars since mine is bone stock, but still, shouldn't the car get the attention first and then the rims? Rims are meant to accent the car- not overshadow it. Same with the soundsystem, especially when looking at cars which are modern classics like the fbody. At least in my book. When I save up the $$ I'm putting 18's on mine- I think that's about perfect. But certainly not the style rim fatty has on there, more classy than gaudy. But like I said, i'm not one to talk.

thats all opinion, i think rims make or break a car. if you compare a pic of my car before and after the rims, it really doesnt even compare. i have 19s on my car and i love them. every single person that has seen it, non-car people included, says it just sets off the car.

Now my opinion may be skewed cause I ended up with an award, however I thought it was pretty fair . I prefer 'judged' shows as well, but judges can also be biased. As for getting plaques instead of actual trophies - what do you expect from a FREE organization. Once Tim starts collecting donations at meets or charging dues, then I would expect higher standards such as a PAID lunch at Bennegins and some plastic trophies at the annual meet. But until then...
As for the wheel issue, Fatty's wheels are pretty bling. Its a bit much for my taste, but he got my vote cause I thought he deserved it (Sorry Alex - your wheels look nice, but they are standard issues just like mine.) Rims definitely make certain cars. But a set of rims and a pre-fab speaker box does not a show car make.
My ride is a long way from where I want it to be. If today's show was in 2 weeks, I would have had quite a few more mods myself (I can't wait to get rid of that f-ugly stock air intake). As much as I taunt my car as show, there's really not much to it. The exceptions being the time I have taken to do certain mods and fine touches that mostly go unnoticed (chrome underhood components, LEDs under hood, painted calipers & slotted rotors). Then again, you can only spend so much money on a "garage queen" when you carry a $300k mortgage and a 5 month old baby. However, I digress.
Alas, there is always next year...
Thanks Tim for taking the time to host a great show and congrats to all participants. We are all winners cause we have a forum to get together!

IMO, that's ********.
James, who had the SOM 4th gen Camaro, is brand new to the site, and he walked way with 3 1st place plaques. Â*
I was the only person he knew really. Â*
You put bling bling wheels on a car that normaly dont have it, and you entered it into a contest where most people worry about performance then the size. Â*
IMO, systems and rims dont make a car.

I dunno?
I don't have a purple AND yellow FB mat. I've got black mat with a silver bird on it. But come to think of it, I don't have a HATCH either!!!

Damn I just thought about that.
Actually, I don't think they called any other numbers except for the 700212 number that was first called. I never heard an announcement again about raffle tickets. That sucks cause I got tickets from 2 other people too!
Hey Tim, what gives?

those were 50/50 tickets, not raffle tickets. we didn't run any raffles.
i think that wheels can complete a car, but i don't think they really make or break a car. the wheels fatty has are defiantely cool, if i had voted he would have gotten my backing for best wheels for sure.(i didn't vote)
i like cars that are well rounded. even if they don't stand out in any 1 particular area as best, they can still be best of show if everything works together.
hopefully next year we cna get more prizes and some trophy money from comapnies and draw even more cars. also i think some minor tweaking to the way voting is handled and possibly the expansion of the classes a little will make for a better show.
adding classes/prizes will be all about vendor/sponsor support. so as of now i can't really promise anything. i do promise i will do my best to improve teh show in all aspects for next year.
later

Dude the past 2 threads you've started were both bitching about the show, i guess you know for next time not to go. I thought the judging was fair Â*enough, i may be biased but i'm talking as far as the other cars that have won. Judges can be very much so biased i've seen it when i was heavily into showing my truck. I had $20g's in mods done to my truck and i went to a show and lost to a old ass truck that was rusted all the way through. Guess what the guy was a vendor in the show, how fair was that? That was a judged show. I was pissed off but you let it go. Grow up and if you don't like it don't go again next year, christ. Find something important to bitch at. Tim and others worked their asses off to put togethor a nice show then there are clowns like you that are ungreatful, GROW UP.

Ok enough about the damn car show and who won a damn trophy or not. All i know is that I love my car, and its pretty quick and the chicks dig it, and all the guys check it out when I drive by them on the road...so in my book, I'm always winning!
