we will at some point, not for '06 though. we discussed it and looked into it a bit but we would need either someone to sponsor the printing of it out one hell of a pile of pre-orders.
it is much more likely that we will be in a position to have a club calendar for '07.

The calenders from nastyz28 get printed at a full service press shop, and with a hefty one time setup fee, they need to order 200 of them to bring the price back down for the members. I can't possibly imagine a club as small as we are needing more than 50 or so calenders, so then they would either be real expensive or not be able to run on a press. The calenders wouldn't have a professional look to them and would look like they were run off at kinkos.

3. Get extra and sell them at East coast nat. next year
4. take pics of cars.

10. after 12 month get the next one

you left out a few things, but i am not surprised. i am not picking you out of the crowd, but it simply amazes me how people jump up saying we should do this project or that project and then when it comes time for the actual work to be done, no one can be found. things do not magically come together - they actually take quite a bit of work and determination and committment to go from the idea stage to the completed project. somehow most people get lost somewhere between the idea and actually getting something accomplished.

thanks for the enlightening information.

i am not against ideas at all. it's just that people do not understand what actually has to happen in order to produce a professional looking project. no one would accept anything less than the best, but getting from the idea to the product is a large gray area for most people.

i know dsmtooners is making a calendar and i can bet my left nut that ludacris isnt paying for everything out of his pocket, SF is also making one and im pretty sure the guy responsible isnt going to pay thousands of dollars out of his pocket either to make some online nerds happy, maybe its just me tho...

After 'picking' the cars out that will be features, a professional style calender is a LOT of work. I do the design for nastyz28 for free because they throw me a few favors every year, but I also ask them for well over a months notice to do it, because it takes that long.
Then theres a guy I work with via interweb in CT. that prepares everything for press and brings it to his shop.
The clubs cost is about $2000 upfront for printing. If they get stuck with any calenders, they eat the cost, so it sucks when you have people who say 'yeah, ill want a calender' but never pull throuhg. That absolutely would happen with njfboa. people will say yeah yeah yeah, make a calender, then when it costs $25 each or more becuase of such a low, nobody would want to spend the money.

Plus I don't think Tim or Justin would have the money up front, and i dont see people pre-ordering a calender before they can see the finished product.

we will at some point have calendars. everything that melissa talked about is exactly why we don't have one yet. after you collect teh pics you have to get permissions signed off, then you have to get all the photo editing done, then you have to do all the text editing, then you have to talk to a printer about proofs(this alone costs about $100 for 2 fuggin copies), then you have to proof read everything very very carefully cause if it is wrong and you miss something it becomes your problem permanently, then you have to front a boat load of cash to get a run done and hope like hell every member and their friends and their parents buy copies just so you can hope to get your initial outlay back. somewhere in between it is good courtesy to hadn anyone who appears in the calendar a free copy and there is a delay in the editing process while you wait for the individuals to sign off on how their car is used and confirming the info is accurate.
so if you have about $2000-2500 and 2 months of free time you can easily "just go print a calendar" lol
jsutin and i spent several hours one night last year looking up info on what needs to be done, hell, i even asked a few members who like photography to lend a hand collecting good shots. there is just so much that goes into getting it all done that it isn't realistic right now.
i promise that every effort will be made to put out a great '07 calendar. for now you will have to buy a nastyz28.com one and enjoy that

what some of you may or may not realize is that i ambitiously took on a project earlier this year. i couldn't even get people to make phone calls. so, please, don't think i don't know what i am talking about when i say it takes committment and a bunch of work to get a project completed.

when in the online arena, where talk is all we do all day long, you will find out that people are just that: all talk.
