Polishing/cleaning dull valve covers???
Anyone know of something that works to make my suddenly dull/chaffing aluminum (at least i think they are aluminum on a 3800??)valve covers look new again?? ...I want to keep things looking new , and with the addition of my new K&N FIPK I want to be able to raise my hood and be Proud..but Just now noticed dull chaffing looking valve covers (almost white)
p.s. 2001 firebird..and actually its the intake (3800 is stamped into it !!!)

if they're aluminum, get some aluminum polish and have at it.

That sounds Like a plan I love Mothers products!
Also today Im going to check at work (Mack Trucks parts dept)
I know we sell a few different liquid cleaners for aluminum if one of them sounds like they will do the job (maybe a simple toothbrush and hose)I will let you guys know, thanx for the info

Good luck, just be careful under the hood with a hose...a really wet cloth that you can just wring out over the part you are cleaning is prolly a better idea.

Yeah I agree, except for the dull finish on the intake, i have kept up with keeping the underhood clean, i also want to avoid using a hose if I can, well we will see..I may hold off until spring..unless we get an above 50' deg. weekend

im thinking the valve covers may be painted...the intake manifold would be aluminum though as far as i know. but i never messed around with a 3.8...no reason too.
