The Mustang that I'm just finishing up for a customer is a no start. It's a 66 with a fresh 289. I have air and spark but it doesn't appear that I'm getting fuel...nothing squirting in the carb and really nothing in the inline sightglass filter. I'm thinking one of three options but an experienced Ford person may be of great assistance here. Either I got a defective fuel pump from Holley, I somehow managed to switch up the In and Out ports (unlikely), or there is some special eccentric that should have been bolted to the end of the new cam to work the pump. I checked the In and Out ports a few times on install...In from the tank and Out to the carb right? Pump is brand new but a defect is possible. I'm gonna pull it and throw the old one on tonight and just see if I can get fuel to pump out of it. I don't want to run the engine with the old one because it's been sitting out for 3 months...just going to fun some fuel into a bottle with it hopefully.
Finally this is where I need the help. A buddy of mine told me that once he did a cam swap on a Ford and had no fuel and it turned out that there was a special eccentric that you need to bolt onto the cam to run the fuel pump. Has anyone else had this situation by any chance. I really don't think (and hope it isn't) this because when I installed the new pump I had to rotate the crank because it felt like the lobe was pushing on the arm and not allowing it to go in flush where it initially was sitting. Once I rotated the engine a bit it sat right in place no problem.

Tim (deadtrend1, not the admin) might be able to help. He's been messing with an old carbed Bronco for a while. You could try PMing him if he doesn't see this.

well, you gotta makesure the cam has a fuel pump lobe on it.

Yeah like I said I believe it does because I had to rotate the crank a little to get the fuel pump to install correctly. I really think it's a bad pump. After I recheck my plumbing tonight I'm going to try the old pump just to see if it pumps or not. It'll take all of 15 minutes to swap out and plumb the inlet side from the tank.
