Rare or Not Rare?????????

i have a set of original 1967 Vette 327/375hp 202 stamping cylinder heads.

the heads came off the original car about 25 miles or so after the guy bought it. he wanted to run 350 heads on it for what reason i have no idea.

i got the heads from a guy that worked at my old shop. his father was the one that did the swap for the guy way back in 67. the heads sat around the shop for years until he sold the business and they ended up in his shed.

the guy that worked with me wasn't a gear head or anything, but he knew the story behind them. a few months later when he cleaned out his truck i saw the heads, and asked about them. he told where they were from and told me if i wanted them i could have for free, he had no use for them.

i checked the stamping codes to see if they were really what he said they were and they are.

they've been sitting in my garage for awhile.

i'm thinking of building a 327 based 302 for a future project and don't know if i should use these or not.

any thoughts????????

I dont know if they're rare, but if they're good enouhg to flow for a 375 HP 327, they must be at least pretty good. If you're building a period correct car or low on funds, I say go for it

i would like to use them, but if they're one of those hard to find Vette items, i'd rather not slap them on a motor that's gonna get beat on.

Yeah...hey, 88 1LE cars cant be THAT rare! There has to be like...7 left.

Anyway, I have zero clue, but any 327 head that supported that much HP on a Corvette has to be pretty rare. Im not sure what the top HP rating was for the 67 Vette with a small block. Vette's didnt get 350's till 68 I think? I would assume that these heads are pretty rare, but what are you gunna do with them? Clean them up. pain them, and have really rare paper weights?

nothing like that.

just figure if i they are of more use to a guy doin a resto on a Vette, i'd rather see them go that route.

vette people are NUTS, they will pay decent money for those i'm sure. From when i was buying and selling vette parts i was shocked with the market prices. I say post them on ebay, high reserve like $2000, and let it go. Yes ebay isnt a 100% accurate reflection but itll give you a good ide. If the bid doesnt go high at all by the end, use them. If it goes pretty high, say a couple hundred and you wanna sell them, use the second chance offer to the high bidder and sell 'em. thats probably what id do. and it wasnt a 1LE

I'd say they're pretty rare. The 327 typically came in a 325hp and a 350hp was optional, a 375hp 327 would have been pretty rare indeed. I'll do some asking around and let you know.

What's the full casting # and date on the heads? The 202 would be the valve size I assume. If they are 327/375 then they would be fuelie heads. Get the casting number and then search Ebay. If you have a decent date range you can get some good money for them. You can't touch the 186 heads for my Z28 in the March-April time frame for under $1000. The demand is incredible.

If the 186 heads are the 2.02 intake and 1.6 exhaust valve heads they are from a Z28. Check the casting date. Generally speaking, the Feb 69 through Jun 69 dates are the most wanted. Even if the heads are 1.94 intake and 1.5 exhaust valves guys are willing to pay good money and will open them up to the bigger valves. They want the right dates.

not sure if this will help, but Moretec.com has the majority of sbc block and head casting numbers.

Probably an 010 block and dated 70 with 1.94 valves. Not as big a demand or price for those heads most likely.
