				Skip Shift Eliminator

Just ordered one for my dad's new GTO. But I read on some boards when you disable the skip shift, the check engine light comes on and sends a code to your PCM. If you use the eliminator will that still happen? I would think SLP would make it so it wouldn't do that...

that subject seems real touchy. some people have gotten the check engine light to come on while some have not. i guess it's just luck of the draw.

IIRC, some skip shift eliminators have a resistor in the plug in part to give the resistance of the solenoid that locks out the gears. that way the computer still thinks its in place. other cheaper eliminator kits just have a connector that plugs in and seals off the end of the wiring, but no resistor.

i did my skip shift eliminator on my 96 for $.15. Went to a radioshack and got a 2.2k ohm 1/2 watt resistor. Shoved it into the pigtail, taped it up and tied it outof the way. All is well!

JW | Cool. Yeah, I just want to be sure that SES light doesn't come on.

no it wont as long as there is a resistor to simulate the selenoid. And like the others said, the skipshift light will come on, but there will be no plunger to push you into 4th

My SES light never came on because of it. It was the best mod I made (not that I have that many).....that friggin skip shift was so annoying.
