Any Ideas?
Ok went to the track wednesday and I was wonder if anyone had any ideas why my car is being so "gay"....
First run stalled out to 1500rpm and went full throttle at light with no wheel slip.
60' - 2.134
330 - 5.937
1/8 - 9.000
MPH - 81.28
1000 - 11.570
1/4 - 13.732
MPH - 103.55
Second run stalled out to 1800rpm and went full throttle with no wheel slip.
60' - 2.084
330 - 5.929
1/8 - 9.032
MPH - 80.23
1000 - 11.633
1/4 - 13.806
MPH - 103.41
Now my question is.... The second run I had a better 60' time but still ran slower why is the damn car cutting out on the top end when I start off faster?

How many miles on that car? Also, how do you race it down the track? Do you manually shift into gear or just keep it in drive? Like we discussed before, we have basically the same mods and I run 4 tenths quicker in the 1/4 than u. So, IMO, i came to the conclusion that since 2000 + 2001 have different components, you should keep your eye out for an LS6 intake ... my LS1 has LS6 intake + LQ4 cam as part of the "LS1" in 2001 + 2002. Just my 2 cents... it might not take that much of your ET but other than that, im clueless

Sorry for double post... but I just noticed your 1/8th ... 9.000@81.28 ... mine was 8.6@84 on my best, so maybe its in the acceleration? I dunno, im clueless man lol

First off, both runs are fairly close and the ET to MPH seem on par.
Could be a bunch of factors? What does the car weight and what gears do you have? what RPM did you shift at each time. What gear are you in and what RPM are you at when you cross the finish line?
How close together (in time waited) between runs were the two. Hot tranny
and convertor could slip or just not shift as crisp. Hot vrs cold engine could effect you top end (speed = horse power) more then you 60' (launch traction + torque). Shift a few hun RPM to low or over the torque curve could effect your run as well.
What you really want to do it keep launching the same way, shifting at the same RPM and see what happens. Next time near the end of the day do a few 'hot laps' after the race drive right back to the starting line and run again and see how the car reacts!
Also, you have good 60' times But you need to always stage the same and then you can use it as a gauge as to how hard the car is leaving the line.
There is some margin of movement when you stage so remember that how deep or shallow you stage will allow you to or not to,, "get a running start" at breaking the starting line beam.
Shallow stage, you get a running start, but you made the track in effect longer but you begin the get the 3600 lbs?? of car moving before you break the beam.
Deep stage and you do the opposite, your closer to the finish (and 60' trap) but you have less distance to excelerate in.

I keep it in 3rd gear and it has 2.73 gears...it probably shifts around 5500-5800 rpms usually, and I shift into third gear at 100mph so thats probably like 10-20 feet from the finish line. I deep stage all the time so that was the same, and It was the first time with the MT radials on so I wasn't sure if i could do the full 1800rpm stall so thats why they weren't the same.
I was not really hot lapping it had a good 30 min between runs since there were alot of people, and it was raining on and off that night.
Honestly I don't know what else I can really so driving wise I max out the stall converter and just mash the gas with no slipping of the tire so I come out of the hole fine. I know my gears suck balls but I'm trying to figure out why I had a worse top end and not a bettter since i'm already higher up in the rpm range when I launch.
And the other thing is i ran a 13.782 on street tires with some slip in the tires and I was just doing brake gas no stalling of the converter. So go figure on that one....

Maybe its the track?  Could be the temp of the LS1 when you ran it. Mine was at 140* before I passed down the track for the 13.31 run . I ran a 13.8 at 220*

maybe my car didn't cool down at all all night even though it was sitting for 30min to an hour .... it usually runs around 190-200 degrees.

the difference between the tickets is .042 but by using math and subtracting the different # on both tickets it comes out this way, we do this in super racing the car spun the tire in the second round letting the convetor flash higher hence the quicker 60 foot ( yes sometimes it will be quicker spining the tire ) but in the totality of the tickets the car ran slower it took me almost an entire season of racing to get how to do this i'am slow at math but it works not good at typing or spelling but you have to understand - weather, motor temp ( some cars go faster when cold some dont ) heat makes HP well thats what they say , tire temp, did the sun go down between rounds ? all kinds of things cause all kind of things you did good car is not that far off practiss makes perfect keep going when you do you will get better and it will be easer to figure out what happened and y jz

If you're going to the track looking for new best times, you should stage shallow. More time for you to accelerate before you break the beam to start getting timed.
