burnt up some wiring!

not as bad a Wayfast LOL!!!

my car wouldnt start at the post office yesterday, died twice while driving today and then finally died for good in my driveway, lucky me! so i noticed that when u put the key in the run position there was no CHECK ENGINE light, the fuel pump didnt prime and when u turned the key it would stumble to start then just die. my GF said she smelled something burning and i laughed at her, OOOPPS! so after i got home from a fire call (electrical fire) i start lookin around, the battery had a charge and i checked the auxilary battery terminal thats next to the battery, this is whrere i ran my alternator, fuel pump and fan wires from when i did the TPI swap and watta u know there all melted, i jiggled them and the car started and sparks started flying. how should i rewire this to make it allll good again?

when i installed the TPI system it was from a trans am and these wires were simply extended from the original locations on the other side of the engine bay, the fuel pump and fans have a fuse in the fuse box, and the alt is just the main wire from the battery to the alt

No, their relay triggers have fuses. The main power leads to the pump & fans need links. Were those connectors soldered too, or just crimped?

Time to wire it right.

The main power lead to items like that should have fusible links, not fuses. Rule of thumb is +4 gauge from the wire it is protecting. 10 ga wire gets a 14 ga link, 12 ga gets 16 ga links.

Look at those wires, they were boiling. Did it melt that insulated post they were attached to? What went to that post, the FP, fans & alt BAT lead? What else?

Do yourself a giant favor, call Mark at MAD and at least order his tech book. He is hard to get through to, he is basically a one man shop, and remember he is on cali time. His book makes wiring way easier to learn. Tell him what happened, the guy is a walking auto electrical encycolpedia.

What is that 4th wire? I didn't see that dirty wire the first time.

looks like it was more the connector than the wire itself...get some bigger wire, some decent battery lug terminals and run inline fuses just to make sure it doesnt happen again. not hard, just time consuming

go to a junkyard and cut it out of another car and splice your wires in
