Well I can tell you that at 14 I had about $3500 then bought my car which was 1500 did an engine which was 1500 and spent the rest on repairs. I'd say your not doing so well imo. Just work your ass off and think about your car. When I worked at KFC for a whole month for every grueling hour I was reeating Hurst Shifter in my head. I still havent bought one...

PS: $3000 was all me the $500 was my parents.

Hmmm, I can't remember if I had any jobs when I was 15, that was 25 years ago! I think I worked some odd jobs for people but minimum wage was like $3 an hour back then so I know I didn't have much money. I do remember buying my first car(1969 Camaro conv) for $2000 at the end of the summer after my freshman year in college. But I couldn't afford insurance and to pay for any books or other college expenses so the car sat in the garage for 8 months before I could drive it!

I was making a solid 6.50 an hour around 15 years old at my first job. I was there for about 3 years, saved up a decent amount while spending the other half. By the time I was 18, I started to really get into cars, and I had to find another job to feed my habit. So I went to Strauss Discount Auto as a parts guy and made 7.50 an hour.

At 15, I probably had $100-200. I didn't start working till 16 where I made $7/hr and didn't do too well of a job of saving. My first few months of paychecks went towards a home theatre system that I bought piece by piece, in the end totaling $2000 by the time it was complete. Then I finally started to save as I figured I wanted to have a car by the time I got my liscence at 17. So I managed to save up another $2000 while looking for a third gen, but spent most of that on an '83 Datsun 280zx. After that I ended up picking up a second part time job and started saving for a hot air Buick Grand National. But I ended up totaling the Datsun and spent the insurance money on my second gen instead

Social Networks:

I had about $1500 at that point. I had already been delivering newspapers for 4 years, and at 16 I started waiting tables at a local steakhouse (Pete's on N Olden) for $3.00/hr + tips. I spent that $1500 and more on my first car and repairs for it, and I only had it a year, and sold it for $150.

Wow 80 hours I didnt think that was humanly possible... I work a fair amount now imo. If your in high school I wouldnt work more than 30 hours a week while your in school. I tried it and wound up cutting the **** down cause I wasnt doing my homework the nites I worked. As far as grueling work I only made referance because working at KFC blew. If you've got $2500 I'd say your good!

Can't remember that far back how much money I had, but after I graduated college I had about $10K in the bank which I used as a down payment on my Firehawk. I had been saving the money through out high school and college, but I'm pretty sure I had very little at 15.

$700 is not nearly enough to warrant a financial planner LOL. You can get a CD (certificate of deposit) at your bank which will pay you a better intrest than a savings account but you can't touch the money without incurring a penalty.

The best thing you can get for your car right now is free. Soak up as much information and learn as much as you can so you won't be pissing your money away buying and re-selling a bunch of parts that don't match, or don't fit, or aren't right, etc. Hi-po parts, cool looking rims, and other expensive parts are nice but if you have the goal of being road worthy then you need to learn the difference between nice-to-haves and got-to-haves.
