Island 3/4
My friend's dad's volvo is gonna be raced (72 Volvo 1800 with a modded 327 on a blazer frame). So a few local buddies and I might go. Anyone else going?
It's supposed to be sunny and 40. Which doesn't mean much, but..

Still lots of snow? did they never plow? Most of the snow around here is melting. And it's supposed to be warm the rest of the week. Thinking about it..I live at a higher elevation than Hackettstown/Island is so I don't think it would be a huge prob no?

I live on Schooley's Mountain in Long VAlley. i think we have a 1024ft elevation. i mean we have some snow, but its only on the grass. all pavement snow has melted.
And add in the lower elevation and possibly plowage of Island...thus why I thought for sure it would be open

even if it was plowed, you still gotta think about other snow melting and the runoff, if theres water in the pits somewhere, it WILL get brought onto the track and thats not good. the whole place, pits and all, need to be clear, and even plowing will never garuntee that.

plus, I don't imagine plowing to be too good for the track surface... unless you plow like an inch above the surface but then its still a lot to melt away

we dont plow. there's no place to put the snow if it were plowed, and in past experience all it does is beat up equipment. imagine trying to push 1/4 mile worth of snow somewhere.. there's guardrails on both sides of you so the only place you can go is all the way to the end... yeah, not happening.
