GM 10 bolt rear

Does anyone know to find out information online on a part using the part number????I have a rear that i want to find out information on, on the rear it says GM2

Old school 8.2 or 8.5?

Check the front of the passenger axle tube. Hit it with a wire brush if you have to. That looks like a casting number but it doesn't tell much. You want the stamped letters and numbers from the axle tube.
