Circle Track racing?

Anyone here part of a crew, drive, or own a circle track race team? I'm looking to break into the racing scene as a driver. I've been researching into some schools, taking every nook and cranny and analyzing it. I just need to find my big break...or in other words I need to find some connections.

You thinking about dirt or asphalt? I crew with Tim (NJSPEEDER) on Randy Yaple's (Randy99 here) small-block modified down at Bridgeport Speedway. There are a few others here involved in dirt track racing as well.

I woulda preferred asphalt, but I'd take a start anywhere.

Superman...

Do you currently attend any local short track racing anywhere now? If not, my recomendation to you would be to start; soon. Racing is a large investment of your time and money. You want to be sure it's something that your really going to enjoy.

I see that your interested in "breaking into the scene as a driver." Well unfortunately you and about a million others have the same idea. Realistically, you'll be breaking into the scence as a car owner, driver, crew cheif, car washer, ect...No one is offering rides these days unless you have something to bring to the table, i.e. tons of experience, motors, crew, weekely maintenance on the car ect...Sorry if this sounds a little negative but its the god honest truth...

My suggestion to you is this...start attending local racing events, talk to as many people as possible in an attempt to expand your knowledge...there are many teams out there looking for help at the track and in the garage during the week, try and hook up w/someone who needs a hand...the knowledge you gain by working on a car with experienced people is priceless, and trust me 9 out of 10 teams are looking for help, so don't be embarassed...do this before making a decision on whether or not this is really for you or not...at least by helping someone else you'll be learning and someone else's expense, and if you decide you don't like it it's of no finnancial loss to you...just remember if you decide to pursue circle track racing you will be forever broke and be unalbe to party like you used to in those days before racing owned you...

Just my .02

Thanks for the input. I know there's a million other drivers going after what I am, and I know it's not gonna be handed to me on a silver platter. I started this thread for the exact reasons you just explained to me. I'm not asking for a ride by no means, The only experience I have is the Stock Car Racing Experience at Pocono Speedway. I'm just trying to get into racing someway, somehow, and hope that one day I can hop behind the wheel. I barely party now, so I'm not worried about racing owning me. Racing is in my blood.

i would suggest starting on dirt. because of the lack of natural grip in the surface it teaches you more about car set up and car control than the high grip enviroment of asphalt.
if you care to join us for a trip to brisgeport one weekend i would be happy to show you the baics of how it works and we can introduce you to some of the less expensive entry level classes.
randy is right about going to the track, there is a lot to it, much of it you can pick up jsut by wandering the pits and watching/listening.
if you kow anyone who races, ask if they mind you tagging along to help crew for them. knowing how the pieces and parts go together and work is another key to being a good driver, you can identify problems from in the car and feed it back to the crew so it can be fixed quickly and correctly.

You said he raced at New Egypt, which is a dirt track - Wall is paved, and there is a completely different circle of drivers/owners/crew for the most part, which is why we hadn't heard of him.
