New Rims on the Cherokee!!!!
Hey all,
Many of you will remember my thread about having a "Street Jeep." I already installed Bilstein shocks, Moog thermoplastic swaybar bushings and endlinks, and new front brakes with Raybestos ceramic pads. To complete the transformation though, I really needed a set of street wheels. Well, I finally found a way to make it happen! One of my former students has an '04 Wrangler X, so he traded me his worn out stock 15" tires/wheels plus some cash for the nice rims I had on the Cherokee. However, I had to drive around on those crummy tires for a week, because I found an awesome deal on a set of slightly used Magnum R/T rims. The cash I made on the trade went to the new rims, which I picked up today. What a difference, going from beat Goodyear Wrangler 225/75 15s up to nice Continental 225/60 18s. Whatcha think of my "Street Jeep?" Click the pic to see the larger version.

Looks great Steve!
How much do you use the roof rack? It would prolly add to the clean street style that you are going for if you took it off.

Thanks, and that's not a bad idea Justin! I've never used it. If I ever need to pick up something that oversized, I use my father-in-law's pickup. I'm only 5'3", so even reaching the roof is tough. Putting something ON the roof is a royal PITA. I should figure out how to slide the crossbars off and save them in the shed!

The wheels look really good Steve!
I took the liberty of attempting to lower your truck via photoshop.

very nice...perhaps when it comes time for tires he can do a slightly shorter tire with a bit less sidewall and then lower it

Thanks for all the compliments guys! After my commute this morning, I gotta say, I'm impressed with the ride over the stock 15s. It does seem to "wander" a bit on really rutted pavement, but I think an alignment will cure most of that. And I like the idea of a small drop, but don't know if I would do it. It would be as easy as cutting a half coil off of the front springs and then removing the helper leaf springs I put in to drop it down. Only problem then is when I have to cart around mulch and heavy stuff; I wouldn't want to scrape the tires.
My next mod will be painting the black bumper endcaps dark blue to match the truck like the Limited models. Think I should debadge it too?

Looks mean! Yeah, get it aligned, lean in on the toe a bit, w/i spec.
Now you need big brakes to both fill the wheel and to keep up with the added weight. LOL

Cool deal, time to bust out the heatgun and do a little research on Jeepforum for removing the crossbars on the roof. Oh, and Ted, you'll have a PM shortly.
