Whats better: Mortal Kombat or Street Fighter

Me and my friend are having this debate. He was a Super nintendo child and I was a Sega child. So generally speaking sega guys go for MK and nintendo guys go for SF. Dont get me wrong both are great but which is the best?

Idk to me both series were done after sega/super nintendo because they made them 3d. I beleive streetfighters last good one was 2 turbo and MK's was MK3 Ultimate.

Well I've only played SF2, and it blows the old MK games out of the water like 5x over.

MK was ok, but to me it felt a little stiff. It just felt like street fighter felt soother for me. I've played both extensively and i have to say the MK series was pretty fun when it came to fatalities and all that other crap, but in term of how the game responds to movement, SF all the way. also i think it takes more skill to play SF (well at least SF 3)

FYI, there are still SF 2 turbo tourneys being held, not sure of MK though

I will vote for Street Fighter only because SF2 Hyper Fighting was/is IMHO one of if not the best game ever created. I play it everyday on my X-Box 360 against other players. I also have MK3 on my X-Box 360 which i like also. MK 2 was the best MK IMHO. I also have every Mortal Kombat created for various systems
