Brake pads?

I need rear brakes on my truck (1999 GMC Sierra 4WD). GM dealer wanted over $100 for the set over the counter! I had semi- metallic for one week, couldn't take the noise so I returned them and got Hawk carbon, worked great, but in 30K they are done. Will all carbon brakes wear out that fast?

Any other options for brake compounds that don't squeal!

1) Build it
2) Race it
3) Break it
4) Repeat!!!

I installed Hawk HPS pads on a 2500HD and they have been great for the past 20k. They barely show signs of wear.

Dang! - can't curse!

When I pulled the brakes the one shoe actally fell apart! The pad itself was split and the backing plate was loose? So I needed shoes that day. Only store local that had a decent brake was Autozone, they had the durastop gold so I put them on. We'll see how they do?
