Both intakes make peak power at different RPMs. I like the superRam. It makes more power than the stock tpi set up and flows to 6500 rpm. Alot of people like the Stealth Ram more because its half the price but the SuperRam is the only emission legal aftermarket intake for TPI but I hear that BBK will be offering a new intake like the superRam for a better price. On a completly stock motor neither will do any good you will need better flowing heads and a good cam to get the power these intakes offer.

Okay so if I have my heads ported a litle biger and the planume and the intake and get a set of slp runers and a set of 411 in the rear. then do the free mods like tb by pass and take the ac system out and smog pump out..And take the back seats out and carpit and the stuff under the carpit what do you think I could run in the 1/4...

If your gonna take the heads off you might as well chuck them and get a better set of aluminum heads for future upgrades. Get at least a set of AFR 180's or maybe a set of trickflow heads. Im not the say all in this Im sure others will chime in. Might as well build it right from the start.

you'll need new heads entirely to get the most out of the intake, 4.11s are for ford 9in, and your still not going to see a big gain with a stock cam. this all being said. its not smart to do all that to a high mileage bottom end. You'll spend 4k in parts, get a few runs out of it and kaboom...

O and if you don't already have one you'll need a cowl hood to clear that intake

hmmm control arms/relocation brackets, torque arm/relocation, 3.73 posi, shift kit in the auto, 2500-3000 stall converter, heads, cam, intake, as many free mods as you can find and some sort of tuning. JS Performance does 3rd gen tuning, I believe. I guess that should be good enough as long as you match all your parts, you don't want a cam that makes power from 3000-7500 rpm if your trans is shifting at 5k and you intake is only good to 5k

I'm sure there 1000 articles on it in the Chassis section on here, and even more on thirdgen.org. And as far as what to use I couldn't tell ya I'm not familiar with the parts availible for the style heads you engine has, never looked into it.

Didn't we already go through this in another thread? Wait until you get the car, and go over it. Give it a good tune up, and then take it to the track and tell us how you did. We'll help you go quicker from there.

Look man...im gonna give you the low down beings youve got a tpi car and a lot of misinformation is being given to you from wherever you are getting it.

you aren't getting to the mid-low 12s in a TPI car unless you have nitrous or some sort of forced induction, or spend a lot of money on having the proper combination put together for you by someone like JS Performance.

Your car as it sits now, if its a L98 car, probably will run bone stock 14.7-15.1...Get some exhaust on the thing, get rid of the factory log exhaust manifolds and make it be able to exhale properly. The TPI intake has some breathing issues, and you need to make the decision to improve on it or ditch it entirely and go with something like a stealth ram (which isnt emissions legal by the way, no EGR)...
Suspension mods are your friend, although I know a lot of guys who run factory style suspension and can still cut sub 1.8 60's. you need a rear that can handle a good tire...the factory 10 bolt can for a little while so long as you arent making good power...but a quality drag radial will be your best mod right now and net you the most gain if you can drive.
Gears aren't necessarily a good idea if you plan on keeping TPI, and again you will need a decent tire/suspension to take full advantage. No car that goes fast is just "bolt on this part and be as fast as possible." It takes time, money, and know-how.

I'll write more later...my advice would be to stop asking questions for a little while and read a bit more, and try to understand. This isn't gonna happen overnight.

Agreed with a lot of what's above. If you're planning on running a TPI setup it will have to be an aftermarket system in order to get to the 12's. I'd suggest the Super Ram or the StealthRam with a set of AFR 195's and maybe the LPE 219 cam or larger. Both intakes make good power but have their own inherent characteristics. Yes the Stealth Ram has no EGR and should be non emissions compliant but you may be able to get away with it...your decision to take the chance or not.

As for Bubba's statement about changing the hood for clearance....if he was referring to use of the Super Ram there's no need to get a taller hood. Stealth Ram I can't vouch for but I believe it fits under the factory hood as well.

Unless the cars have the same profile and share the same body panels I wouldn't assume that.

Its been awhile, but I THINK that just cutting the one brace towards the front of the hood enables clearance of the stealth ram. If not, there are cowl hoods for sale all over.

Racer, calm down and pick the parts wisely. Your are all over the place with your questions. Its like watching a little kid running down the aisles of "Toys R Us" pointing at what he wants, and then asking what they are. The way you're phrasing the questions seems like people give you mis information about what you need to go faster and you ask it here. You included in your planned performance mod a TB Coolant Bypass. It doesn't do anything but clean up how the engine looks.

You want a new intake setup, and stick with the 350, thats cool. just get heads and cam to match what the intake can handle. Then you are advised to get new heads, and then you say you want a 383.

Like Tru2chevy said, we went over this in another thread you started. But you absolutely need to buy something now, start with suspension/chassis first. First and foremost that I would do would be subframe connectors. Keep the car in the shape its in now.

Thats what I'm planing on doing, theres no use having all that power if you can't put it to the ground.
