What O Day

Well, lets give a little back story to this.
For some time, the ac compressor on my Caprice has been making a lot of noise. The clutch has been constantly on and eating up gas milage on the car pretty hard core. Josh got to hear it recently. And I kept saying to myself, "I really really need to get a new compressor..."

So, Today Im leaving work, walk out ot my car, start it....no start.
This is another thing that has been happening a lot recently. So I pop the hood, jiggle cables, go to start it. fires up...but this loud screeching noise somes screaming out from the engine bay. I go out to look at it, and tis starting to SMOOOOOOKE! The belt is doing a burn out on the AC compressor pulley.
I stop the car....and start to figure out ways to get home. This figures since I have 2 days off. So I call around to get prices. I call advance, new compressor for 105 bucks, but not in stock. I call up Carquest, they have one, but for 180 bucks. Well, I need it, and couldnt wait the extra day cause no one could take me home, and I was not in the mood to walk up the parkway. So I take another guys car...a Mustang 5.0 car...and go over to carquest.
Ok, flash foward an hour or so later, I get the damn thing in, put the belt on, wash up, and head home. Make the turn to get onto Hooper ave...I hear a ERRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRR SNAP!!
I lost power steering, battery light on, bad news bears.
Pull over, belts snapped. I call up Advance and ask them if they could deliver me a belt to me while I was in a parking lot. Well, the guy was really cool and I will write into Advance about this commending them. The guy Sean or Shawn or however you spell his name came in his own truck, in street clothes, with a belt and an install tool and helped me throw the belt in so I could be on my way.

I have always liked Advance Auto and will continue to shop there. Thanks to them, I could get back on the road. I only wish they had the compressor, it would have saved me 70 bucks! Oh well.
Long day, got home about 3 hours after I had punched out. Im exhausted...

I wish I had that luxury. Sometime I like Serp belts for the ease of instaling belts, but other times....
At least now I can finally have a functional ac system now. gotta charge it with oil and r134a in the next week.
I have to start to get the car ready for inspection
Horns, Cat, and...thats it?

Thanks Bob, but me being stuck down in Toms River would have been a hell of a drive for anyone, and I really blame myself since I have been putting it off for a while now. I have no one to blame by myself.

That was really cool of the Advance guy to do that for you. Sucks you had to shell out for the compressor but at least you have A/C for the summer.
