sad day in yankeeland
with the passing of bobby murcer. RIP BOBBY
i always enjoyed watching him play and he was also a decent commentator.

How sad. He went back in for test early in the season and then we didn't hear much. Damn.

A lot of nice Murcer talk on YES today. I did not realize he is the only player to play with Mantle & Mattingly. That is quite a link between eras. Murcer will be missed. As Phil Rizzuto would say, "Murcer, you huckleberry!"

YES is having a special on tonight of the life of bobby murcer. i heard tall he talk on YES today along with micheal kays words on bobby. to bad the yanks forgot to show up today to win one in honor of bobby.

Very sad. I really liked listening to him call games in the booth. I think one of the best commentating groups ever was Murcer, Michael Kay, Ken Singleton, and Jim Kaat. Murcer being the good hitter, Kaat being the good pitcher, Singleton being the good all around player, and Michael Kay the kid from the Bronx. They'd all have very different and very complimentary insights into each moment in the game. Kaat would talk about the pitchers thoughts right then and Murcer would chime in with what the hitter was thinking and Singleton with strategies and Kay with the stats. I'll miss that voice in the booth.
