Detailed the StreetJeep

Took advantage of the nice weather yesterday with my kids, and got my son to help me wash and wax the Cherokee. Just used some Meguiar's Color-Back wax as it goes on easy, and was easy for my 5-year old to buff off, then went over it with the QuikDetailer. However, it looks a TON better. Here's a couple pix, I took them by an abandoned dealership near my house. In the profile shot, you can ~just~ make out the rear discs - gotta love Grand Cherokee parts!

The painted front bumper makes a huge difference over factory. I really like it alot! It needs to get low though

Kill yourself Alex.....lower a Jeep?!?!?

Looks great Steve, ever think about some Nightshades for the front markers? I think putting just enough on them to make them looked smoked (not actually black) would look really good.

I wish that they made the 2wd Cherokee's with IFS. Id drop it too, but thats me. The wheels work real well with it, looks very Land Rover-ish...

So what if its 4wd, it has street wheels & tires, clearly it will never see dirt during the summer. A set of coil-overs would be perfect. Lower in the summer, back to normal in the winter when Steve puts his winter wheels on.

2 goes low, 4 goes high but If its not going off road... drop it! Thats my philosophy anyway.

Coilovers are doable, but far from cheap. Have to add structure to the rear to have a place to attach them, and get rid of the leaf springs.

Some guys have swapped to coil springs on their lifted XJs to allow for more flex.

But I just think they look goofy lowered, even though I know it's only a pavement pounder.

Thanks for the compliments guys! Justin, I have thought about the smoked look on the front markers, might look pretty sick if I can get a nice even coat on them. Might have to hit up Mike (maroman88) the Nightshade expert.

As for the suspension, the most I would consider lowering it would be just by removing the front upper coil spring isolators and taking out the rear helper leaf springs; that would drop it down ~1/2" or so. But, it handles surprisingly well, even with its 2 solid axles. It's also due for tires; the Continentals that came on the rims are pretty worn now so I know that would make a difference too. Trouble is finding a good tire in a 225/60 18 that doesn't cost an arm and a leg.

And for Mike and Kasey, I took the pic behind the old Fisher Nissan building; it was across the side street from Mullane Ford. They leveled Mullane about 3 weeks ago, it's just a flat pile of dirt there now.

Thanks again guys!

Ah, I hadn't thought of it that way. I guess because the truck is a dark color, the smoke lenses might work, but the clear ones sort of "pop" out at you.

Anyone know if you can you remove Nightshade spray if you don't like the way it comes out?

I don't see why a little sandpaper wouldn't take it right off if you put a few light coats on and didn't like it.
