the oil leak from helllll

i have an oil leak... not a drip, its a constant FLOW! i always had a small leak from the rear of my driverside valve cover. i was driving the other night and i was in 2nd at about 3500rpm for a while (bein a dick lol) and i stopped and smoke was pouring out from under the hood. jump out to look and there was oil everywhere on the driverside, smoke coming from the oil on the header. look under the car and theres a huge puddle! so i limp it home.. realized there was a steady trail that u could follow from my firehouse to my house lol. so i figured i just finished off the valve cover gasket... i bought a new set of rubber Fel-Pro ones and installed them today. filled it up with oil again, start it up and now its a steady stream! climbed under the car and saw it was running down from where the trans meets the engine. climb into the engine bay and can see it running down the back of the motor onto the trans.... theres just not enough room to see exactly where its coming from! the distributor hole is sealed up and dry so its below that... when i installed the manifold i RTV'd the crap outa the back, and is there even enough oil under the manifold to cause a steady flow?? i reallly dont wanna tear the whole top off again lol. any ideas where it could be coming from??

as far as i know the only things that could leak from the back are...intake seal, dizzy, or valve cover...none of which would shoot a stream of oil really. could be the rear main but you said it was coming from above the trans so thats out. wheres the PCV located on an LT1? or could be the oil pressure switch, dunno where that is on them either though.

well it may not be reading properly because....you have low/no oil pressure

either way i dont know where its located but that would be a good spot to check first...if it was the LT1 i'd say replace the motor

IM guessing this is on the LT1?

I had to seal my intake manifold 2 times after my cam swap till it stopped leaking.

could it be your oil pressure sending unit?

Step 1.

Fix the obvious things first. Like your Oil Pressure gauge.

Isn't the oil pressure switch located right by the oil filter?
I would clean all the oil off the engine, fill it up, have someone run the car while you look.

And fix your damn oil pressure gauge. Its a good thing to have.

well damnit. I just skimread for the first few posts. I seen OIL LEAK and assummed LT1.

On the 88, there should be a sensor behind the intake AND above the oil filter.

It could be the oil pressure port on the block behind the intake as pointed out before. Or it could be the plug under the head on the driverside. If you look at the picture deadtrend posted, you can see a wet trail below the crossover tube bolt leaking between the head and block. There is a 1/8" pipe plug in the block. I have seen these leak pretty bad. Unfortunately you need to remove the head to fix this so, let's hope that isn't it.
