SEMA Legislation in New Jersey

SEMA Model Legislation in New Jersey

Establishes a motor vehicle registration for STREET RODS and CUSTOM MOTOR VEHICLES

ATTENTION ALL NJ CAR ENTHUSIASTS!!!!!
Support is required to insure the passage of Legislation that will establish a category for titling and registration of Street Rods and Custom Motor Vehicles, including Replicas. This Legislation will allow the continuation of the custom car hobby in NJ. Currently, there is NO classification for these vehicles. This call to action is to all car enthusiasts in NJ.

Full Bills here:
http://www.njleg.state.nj.us/2008/Bi...00/2074_I1.PDF Senate version
http://www.njleg.state.nj.us/2008/Bi...00/2836_I1.PDF Assembly version

This legislation is fully supported and backed by SEMA Action Network (SAN)
http://www.semasan.com/main/main.asp...ANcom/HomePage

The SEMA Legislation was submitted to the New Jersey Assembly and Senate in June of 2008. It has been sitting in committee since, with NO ACTION. If nothing is done THIS YEAR this legislation will die.

NJ car enthusiasts need to e-mail the chairs of these committees and urge that these bills be posted for a committee vote as soon as possible. Don’t miss this opportunity to save our hobby !!

NJ car enthusiasts, please consider asking friends and family and acquaintances to support your interest! Forward this to them and encourage their support!

Please take the time to e-mail and call these chairmen.

Your support really counts. Thanks

We got word that Senator Sacco will be bringing the bill up for review in the transportation committee in one ofthe two meetings in February.

The Assembly side is a little more difficult as the bill is sponsored by a republican and the Chair of the committee is a democrat.

We could use a push to have you call your assemblyman and have them co-sponsor the bill.

Thanks

Chris

Confirmed!

The Senate Transportation committee will be hearing bill s2074 on Feb 2nd!

I'll report back how this went.

Please contact your assmeblyman and have them urge Assemblyman Gordon Johnson Chair Law and Public Safety Committee to hear this in the assembly subcommittee.

We are making headway folks. Don't think your voices won't be heard!

Now is the time to write more letters to the members of the Assembly "Law and Public Safety" Committee!!! Mention that you are aware that Senate companion Bill S-2074 was passed unanimously by the Senate "Transportation" Committe.

The "Law and Public Safety" Committe will be seeing this Bill in an upcoming hearing. And that might be soon! Write to them and show your support for A 2836. If you have written recently, write again, but be sure to mention that it is a follow-up letter based on the new information about the Senate "Transportation" Committee's approval of companion Bill S-2074 You should also write to YOUR District Legislative Representatives (Senator, reference S-2074 and Assemblymember, reference A-2836) as the Bills WILL go to both floors for a vote. DO NOT DELAY. The next Senate voting session is Feb.26 !!! And YES! It is possible that our S-2074 will be voted on!
