major problems

Ive been having a hard time with the car lately. Tensioner shattered on me the other day so i fixed that and drove for 2 days before the next problem. While waiting for someone i was idling and all of the sudden the car died. couldnt get it to start for several tries and then finally it fired up like it was out of gas but i had a half tank. If i didnt keep the rpms 200-300 over idle it would die so i parked it.
go to see what was wrong and it starts up fine and drive home no problems. drive to work today no problems. drive home and half way there it dies at a red light again. get it home and its over heating but no where near red line. just over half on the gauge. then i notice its not shifting into the next gear so i get off the highway and coast home.

pulled these codes

36 - ign system problem loos of 24x sensor signal
82 - ign system problem 3x signal circuit problem
96 - transmission system voltage problem

i also notice i cracked my air dam and its not at the right angle so that might have added to the over heating.

any ideas?

Is this your 94 with the 3.4 V6? Check to see if any wires got disconnected down along the front of the engine. It sounds like something wiring is out of whack. Your fans might not be turning on which leads to the overheat and the trans coolant as well. It reallys sounds like you hit something that might have dislodged some wiring.

X2 on the wiring. it may be causing the ecm to short out.

when the tensioner broke something hit the crank sensor and knocked it out of wack. replace crank sensor and itll be fine

talk to me about case relearns. are they needed on a pre obdII PCM? also i just had the car running for about 10-15 min on stands. Fans came on just fine but i noticed that when i had the hood up the first time the car died on me the crank pulley was not spinning true and could notice it moving in and out ever so slightly. not after running for a while i cant see it move at all, spins very true.

is it possible the engine just needed to learn its timing again after going from a very very loose tensoner to and very solid new one. I mean i would watch the old one shake like crazy back and forth and the new one wont even budge.

edit:
took it out for a spin for about 15 min. everything went smooth, shifted fine, no codes, hit it a couple of times. Temp was just above quarter, a smidge above norm, but my air dam is cracked and not at the proper angle so im not worried about that.

i dont know if i'd consider the 36 - ign system problem loos of 24x sensor signal a problem...i seem to get it every once in a while and doesn't really seem to effect the driveability... had a shop look at it and he said it wasnt causing any problems...just my 2 cents

Case relearn is when the computer has to resync the crank position sensor. It uses the information to detect misfires. The car will run fine without it working properly, but I had that code for months and the SES light which I had to get fixed to pass inspection. I'm not sure about pre OBDII cars but I don't think they use that.
