Boat races down in Barnegat
Bandit88 and I met Anti-Rice-Guy at the "Garvey Races". Totally all for fun. No fees to watch or nothing...
Took some pics and vids:
Idle video... me want!

A certain brotherly duo that are members here an rhymes with "Landers" was supposed to show up, but got scared away.
Basically, It's a bunch of 16' boats broken down into 3 main categories, with transplanted car v8s. They weigh 1400-1800 lbs.
2nd pic: purple and white boat = garvey. They have a flat bottom, used to be clamming boats, and evolved into this.
3rd pic: Speed skiff. They go way up on their sides in the turns and have v-hulls.
These two have 3 classes....ranging from 305s with 2bbl carbs, to 350s with 4bbls, and then the unlimiteds, where it pretty much just have to have a motor (The lower classes have very strict rules on cams and everything). They usually have direct drive (i.e. no transmission, you start, you move instantly)
1st pic/video: Ski boats..a newer class. Not entirely sure on teh specs but the one there were only 3 boats in that class on Sunday, a small block and 2 big blocks.
I'm trying to upload my pics/vids now.

I haven't seen that boat in a while. I take it you've been to the ECBRCNJ races?

I didn't think enough people would read the post to really care that much...I couldn't gotten into more detail about the rules and specs too.
Who won...which class?

this weekend the races are at parkertown which is 2 min from my house lol
back in the 1990's era my dad and uncle used to race a speed skiff with them. last time i went to the docks i got to ride in one of the modified Garvy's. the guy wanted to know if i wanted to co-pilot him for the races but being that i don't live down the shore i couldn't

I am definetly not a Benny. I'm not from PA, I can navigate a circle, and I drive 10 over the speed limit on the parkway.

Sounds too raspy, it needs cats on it.
If it wasn't the holiday weekend I might have headed down to meet you guys. They used to run races like that over here on the Delaware years ago. I think I may make a run down to Beach Haven this Sunday to do some biking or blading and then plan to hit happy hours at the Ketch out on the deck.

BENNY stands for BERGEN ELIZABETH NEWARK NEW YORK.
bennys are from north jersey and flock to the shore for the summer. they wear tank tops with gold chains and stop shaving from the chainline down. they also wear socks and sandals...which wouldnt be too bad if they didnt have the socks pulled all the way up and their shorts shorter than their thighs
