I just did the unthinkable....
Well it was probably the smartest thing I have done in while but I wont feel like it until everything is paid for.
On Thursday we gave back my wifes Trailblazer and I just got back from giving back my Silverado. So now instead of two car payments I have one CC payment. I might have been able to stick it out but I would have stuggled tremendously. I will be trying to find a vehicle over the next week but for now we will have to use the in-laws car when we can. I am not looking for pitty, I am kinda proud of myself for going through with it and knowing that things can only get better from here, I just needed to vent and what better place than on a forum where thousands of people can rip on me!!!

Thanks guys.
I am going to get something used, with some help from my family.
I wasnt burried in payments at the time. I was actually quite comfortable but I lost a really good job last August and have been getting by ever since, I dont want to just get by. I would like to stop renting from my in-laws and stand on my own two feet and those payments were holding me back. I rather start all over again now when Im still young, instead of just living week by week, not knowing if Im going to have enough money when the next bill rolls in. I have a lot of goals and plans and this was the first huge step to accomplish them.

Sounds like your are making all the right decisions to make life better in just a couple of years. You're right about the timing, do it now and you will be ahead of the game. A little sacrifice now will pay off in huge dividends later, and your family will be all the better for it.

What do you mean you gave them back. To who? Were they leases?

One was a lease had to eat a few payments. The other they bought back for their inventory which I had to eat a little money on as well. I wish it was as easy as just giving them back!

Matt, you did the right thing! I was in the same boat before I got married 7 years ago. I had a 2000 Maxima I was making payments on, but I had no savings in the bank to pay for my honeymoon, and it was really tight with the mortgage payments. So, I tried selling it privately for a while, and it didn't go. I wound up selling it back to the dealership for a loss, paid the balance on my loan, and had some $$ in the bank. Then I bought a beater $1200 Olds Cutlass and drove it a year and a half until I got on my feet again.
Good luck with everything!

i respect that a lot. i was in a similar situation this past summer....the housing association raised fees and to make a long story short i decided to sell the t/a, pay off the bills, buy out of the lease early which makes it easier to move into the new house thats cheaper by over 1k a month .
toys come and go.....doing things you dont like is all a part of being responsible. theres more time for toys and theyre only getting cheaper
